When will proton start to manufacture 2.4 liter car at price rm67k?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

A fascinating sharpness<o:p></o:p>
<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Toyota</st1:place></st1:City> launched its five-door Blade hatchback into the Japanese market yesterday, making it the highest-end hatch model the company has in its inventory. <o:p></o:p>
The company is hoping to pioneer a new vehicle market with the Blade, essentially fixing its aim at upper-market consumers who are looking at something like the Volkswagen Golf. Effectively, it's a higher-end variant of the Auris hatchback, which will be making its way into various markets around the globe next year. <o:p></o:p>
The Blade, available in both front-wheel and 4WD versions and Standard and G variants, is equipped with a 2AZ-FE 2.4-litre pot - with Super CVT-i (Continuously Variable Transmission-intelligent) in attendance - and a seven-speed Sports Sequential Shiftmatic tranny. No specific power output figures were mentioned, but expect 160bhp or thereabouts on call. <o:p></o:p>

The exterior, with its workings based on the Toyota-brand design philosophy "Vibrant Clarity," looks clean and elegant, but it's the interior where the luxury is, especially with the G version. <o:p></o:p>
Among them, seats featuring a combination of real leather and Alcantara, an eight-way multi-adjustable power driver's seat and a smart keyless entry/push button ignition system. <o:p></o:p>
Electronic wizardry is pasted on here like it's going out of fashion. Besides Vehicle Stability Control and TRC (traction control) systems, SRS side and curtain shield airbags and driver's seat SRS knee air bags, which come standard on all vehicles in the series, there's a HAC (Hill-start Assist Control) function and an Intelligent Parking Assist system in there too. <o:p></o:p>
The latter, optional on G model vehicles equipped with a navigation system, supports steering operations when parallel parking and backing into a parking space. Ultrasonic sensors installed on the front of the vehicle detect other parked vehicles and based on the results estimate the physical dimensions of a vacant parking space and set the target parking position. <o:p></o:p>
Retail prices in <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Japan</st1:place></st1:country-region> start from 2.247mil yen (RM67,063) for the front-wheel drive, Standard version to 2.772mil yen (RM82,740) for the 4WD G model. <st1:City w:st="on">Toyota</st1:City> is looking at selling 3,000 units of the Blade per month in <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Japan</st1:place></st1:country-region> when retail begins next month.<o:p></o:p>

that is one thing we all must remember clearly. Toyota had been in this business since very long time and had the chance to establish itself all over the world.
Even when Proton was just starting 20 years ago, they are already doing very well everywhere.

Toyota cars started without power windows nor EFI engines, only managed to developed it later. The JDM is actually a testbed for them...a Corolla LE in 1983 in Japan was known to have EFI and 4 speed auto transmission with 2 speed ECT mode. such spec were not available to the outside world as Toyota was worried about reliability so, the Japanese became their guinea pigs...

it did happen to us Malaysians but to the Japanese, that's nothing new.

skywalker, dont forget other than the tax comes the cost of transportation, handling and not to mention the profit local franchise holder needs to make. the same case if Proton wants to export Waja to Japan - it may cost like a Galant VR4!!

that's logic of business - those who need to know more must learn about commerce and economics

its a wonder why after 20 years proton still cant enter thailand and indonesia. they are just across our border, they are RHD markets and their population combined is more than 250 mil the least.

well, i know the answer..its becoz proton cars are just too expensive to sell there.

proton should have reduced thier operation cost...like cut 20% in management salaries and non-productive staff. then get their vendors to reduce supply cost.

sorry off topic...he he:regular_smile:

It can't possibly be 180K, maybe abit lower like 130K to 150K. This is because The Caldina is retailing at about 180K while the Wish is about RM140K. So logically, the Blade should be priced between these two.
