I am very interested in fc3s, but the car is almost 40 years old /: ... I am kinda worried about where to find parts... The price is about 30 k, but what about how much to spend on rebuild, parts etc...

My second option is new cars like mx5, 86 or wrx sti. Less trouble since its new.

    What's your opinion?

The FC will be a money drain unless you get a very good condition one. But having said that the FC is a classic now and thanks to Initial D, it's also kinda overpriced. It's a pure enthusiasts car so only buy this if you absolutely must have it. Otherwise go for the newer cars.

The newer cars like the MX5 ND, GT-86 are pretty neat cars. All packed with new tech and all - the best head-ache free cars you can get and can start enjoying them immediately. However if you buy 2nd hand - make sure you do your due diligence and quadruple check the cars with a specialist. 86 and MX5s are rarely never thrashed.

WRX STI isn't exactly new unless you're talking about the latest car. I'm not a fan so I can't really comment with an unbiased opinion.

Make sure u know everything there is to know about the rotary engines, then passionate about it.
If not, don't buy it. It will just be another hard parker left to rot.

Better just buy the GT86/BRZ if you want a RWD sports car, a lot less headache in every way.

Cheap to buy, expensive to maintain. Esp old ones, sure previous owners dunno how to maintain. Must buy from known owners.

Seems like money not an issue if you are considering GT86 or few year old mx-5.

A base FC3S may cost you like about 30k but you need to be prepared that after fixing everything up to its prime condition, the final total amount of repair + price of base car may reach even 100k. You also need to factor in the time taken to source for parts and also people with the expertise to deal with the car. If you have the money and determination to get it right with the FC3S, then I suppose you can go for it.

If you’re buying it for the way it looks, forget about it, your “passion” will wear down very fast as the thing constantly needs attention and parts.

Izso has a Toyota powered German marque that have more parts available domestically and he ain’t enjoying himself getting it up to his desired condition.

I have a 11 year old boat that makes me feel very bored having to keep it at tip top condition.

If you want something iconic, fun, and easy to maintain, get a Lotus Elise s2 with the Toyota engine.

Agree on the Lotus Elise, provided you can live with getting in and out of it!

Where are you located? There are a few famous shops in KL that can do up RX7s. But there are very limited shops to choose from.

For rx-7 you only have to worry about the engine. if you dont abuse it and take care of the fueling aka premix you should be fine. Other areas like rust and suspension ..same as other cars.
