Slick tyres are deffinitely illegal for road use in Malaysia. This, include semi-slick as well right, vr2turbo?

semi slick is DOT/road legal tyre....

they called it semi-slick because the rubber compound most was similar to slick/race tyre but with enough tread to be allowed for road use (need to cater wet road condition too)

Driving semi slicks is a joke in Malaysia. Especially during wet season. I've seen an Evo struggle to go up a 20 deg gradient road after it stops at a traffic light. Imagine all 4 wheels spinning and super slow tortoise movement - in the rain. Stopping is dangerous too.

Extreme is already quite good for road use, I really don't see a point in semi for road use. The Federal RSR is already awesome in the dry and in the rain wasn't too bad either (for me la 205/55/15). AD08 and AD08R are pretty incredible in any situation... etc.

semi slick is actually 'legal' slick tyre...
also 'legal' to be use on track...

but still undrivable during raining...

Yokohama A050 is semi slick...AD08 is not..

I have a friend change from WRX to Evo X that came with RE-070 extreme. He already complain drive like tortoise in the rain and ask me what tyres to use, so since he prefer driving fast in wet, I told him to use GY Asy2 and loving it, then next set he went for PSS, all Max category.....:driver:

Seriously?
Of course not! The rubber compound for the thread pattern differs from the one to make the carcass or construction of the tyre. That is why when very bald there is very much less traction.
Slick tyres looks bald but they have indicators like small holes to let you know whether still can be used or not.

Would like to ask u all,

Mine is 225 45 17 can i use 215 45 17? Mine is 8jj so if use it then nid to stress the tyre ??

Coz i saw alot available for this size.
Since ur rim is 8jj (same as mine), i think it will look nicer on 225/45.

i saw in local online trade, there are plenty of 2nd hand 225 45 17 tyre
