I've been around this corner for very very long time taking in details and all your guidance.. But I have one massive issue. I've been trying to detail my own ride. How to clay my car? I've clay very very long and many many passes at the lower arches near the wheels and its really hard to get it off. And can anyone recommend where can I get OPC or Detalien products? Thanks :)

Hi. To get hold of OPC or Detailien products, do go to detailien.com- Optimum Car Care Malaysia. There are a list of Distributors. Call anyone of them which is nearer to you. Hope that helps.

For the clay part, you can try a more aggressive clay with firm pressure while you clay BUT be warned. It might cause micro marring which requires you polishing out after you clayed your vehicle.

thanks

thats why u need to use quik detailer as lube....fold after every square feet u used..... start from top work down

used separate Clay for body and lower panel - such as trims, lids, difusser, side skirts....as these are highly contaminates area - where as brakes particles & metal flakes from rotor & pad....picked up and stay in this clay........older older clay for rims.....needless to explaine lo

Just consider SANITATION

some brands sells at RM 40......or dilute 7ml of ANR (alien no rinse wash) only cost RM0.58 = get the same equal amount of Value

I'm using Black Magic Spray Detailer but somehow it disintegrates the clay all together.. So I use my car shampoo as clay lube. Is it ok or should I get quik detailer?

eh both does disintegrate the clay

try 7ml ANR to mix 500ml as quik detailer - the polymers does wonders as clay lube and wet sanding lube as well

May I ask what clay you are using and what are you trying to remove?

the clay i'm using is PG clay moderate level No. 2. I'm trying to remove those dirt and tar stain at the bottom corner of each wheel arch.. other parts of the body not so tough but those 4 corners are the worst.. took me very long time to remove. is there anything i did wrong?

Does the surface feel smooth after claying? Can you feel the dirt or tar when you feel the surface with your hand? If it is smooth, then the dirt and tar are most probably embedded into the paint and you're just shearing off the top with the clay and not really removing them. If you can still feel them, you can try using a stronger or more aggressive clay. Claying is mechanical cleaning, maybe what you'd need is to try chemical cleaning instead. For the tar you can try something that would dissolve them, like a tar remover. For the dirt, you'd need something that would emulsify and dislodge them, like a strong all purpose cleaner or a degreaser. But be aware that when you're working with chemicals on the clear coat, you'd need to make sure that the paint stays wet or else they *could* stain the paint. But nothing that a light polish or AIO (All In One) couldn't remove.

Regards.

About the PG clay, some people like to use it but not me. It crumbled even when I tried it with plain water or normal shampoo solution. I just couldn't make it work properly. But I really like the plastic packing though.....

now i see.. thanks a lot for the info.. most of the tar are luckily not embedded into the clear coat.. i was just wondering does it really need that much passes to get rid all these tar stains? can you introduce any brand of degreaser that are good to have? thanks again! :D
