Reminder to install airbags

i think before they start enforcing the law on airbags, they should deal with the quality control of the airbags. two of my friends hit their heads on the steering wheels in separate accidents before the airbags were activated. one was a 1.3 Satria and the other was a 1.5 UK Spec Satria.

or maybe it's just Proton being.. well.. Proton. :P

what's the point of having an airbag equipped car that only deploys AFTER you've gotten intimate with your steering wheel?

proton / perodua is charging rm1.2k+ for a set of JRD alloy wheel.

so make a wild guess how much the airbag will cost us, when it is under optional accss

hmm i dun understand ..its kinda hard for an airbag to be as smart as u wished for ..really ..

take an instance, someone complained the the proton airbag are too sensitive coz bang a bit then come out while some claimes that it din deploy the airbags while having an accident ..hehe

but FYI, there are 2 types of Airbags ..one is connected to yr ECU where it deploys when the ECU detects accidents

another one is the compact type where when u get a force push(accident) then it will self deploy ..no need ECU

so all of all .. try get a bucket seat ..bucket up .. :P

newer airbags are connected to both.
one is a shock sensor on the bumper and sidewalls, another is to the ecu (taking speed and various readings)

having said so, there are still cases of a faulty airbag :ph34r:

personally speaking, it think it our country shud have amde it compulsory for every car to have driver side airbag as standard item even kancil. juz throw away all those optional accesories and let the consumer buy himself his of favorite sport rims, audio and alarm system.

then, the higher spec can include twin front bags and the high end might have curtain ones.

back in 1996 when i was working with Milan Auto, all Alfa Romeo cars come with at least driver's SRS airbag. high end models like 146ti or 145 Cloverleaf has twin airbags. err, at that time only BMW and merc offer sidebags as optional.

do u know why proton wira has compartment in the left hand side of the dashboard? ha ha that is the place where the passenger airbag for EVERY european and UK spec cars. i do not know what proton expect us (the main supporter of Proton business) to act..maybe put a plastic bag there?

well... real drivers can have all the guts they want.. but their head aint any harder than others... it will still crack open with it hits the steering. B)
