A friend of mine has a 2004 Vios, standard, no modifications at all. She has been complaining lately she feels that she is re-fuelling more frequently. Basically she would pump RM60 per week on RON95 and that would only last somewhere between 330km to 375km. Am I right that the FC is about 10-11kmpl? Isnt that really low for a 1.5 car? If so, whats the likely culprit thats using the fuel?

Has she has been servicing her car regularly at Toyota service center?
Yes she has, like clockwork. Though her current mileage is only 136k and the next service is at 150k, she is thinking of sending it earlier as it as a few problems at the moment.

Not that I am aware of. She used to drive long distance but now its mainly city driving. She said when she used to drive to Terengganu often, which is about 300++km, she would still have like 4 bars on the fuel gauge, now 300++km she'll have 3-2 bars.

i think the difference is that now she drives more in city instead of highway driving...and with all the shitty drivers who make it like their own road make things even worse for her FC...

I've considered that myself. But even then 10kmpl is still low no for a Vios? I am driving a 2.0 litre engine and mine is close to 10kmpl.

any regularly serviced 1.6cc car would do average 12km/l, 1.5cc will do much better, she should lightened her right foot, just my two cents...:driver:

Random Post Every 5 Minutes

i had a hunch, touched one wire that goes to the fuel pump and that wire felt kinda panas.

what could be the main cause? had a mech the fuel pump changed and did not supervise the installation, which i usually wud rather do myself.

was afraid it could melt something under there (external fuel pump).
and does it have something to do with the car dies every 5 minutes of idle?

gotta get pics later.
