Looking for MR2 - need some kind advice

Hi folks,

I have been interested in purchasing a MR2 since my college days and now that I have a tiny bit of money I thought I may give it a shot. I love the mid engine rear wheel drive layout, been driving a Elise for the past 5 years and would attest to the superior layout. Would greatly appreciate it if someone can answer my following questions:

1) Market value for stock condition Mr2 (2nd gen) in turbo and naturally aspirated form.
2) What to look out for (mechanically) in buying a used one.
3) Are there any Mr2 specialist in the Klang Valley?
4) Are used spare parts readily available?

I am also looking out for the first gen Mr2 (and 2nd gen) so would appreciate it if anyone as any leads that they can share. It has to be in relatively stock condition.

we should make a sticky for this MR2 hunting topic... everyone is asking the same questions..............

1) MR2 turbo costs between 35k - 65k depending on condition... higher cost genrally equals better condition.

2) Make sure no oil leaks, no overheating, turbo is good, no white smoke from exhaust.. the usual checks as with any car.

3) There are not MR2 specialist per say, but most that we know have already been trained by us to handle MR2 servicing and repairs... see other threads for contact details.

4) Parts are still available and easy to obtain... TRD Win Hing still still has support for MR2 parts..... and hardly anything unfixable happens to the 3sgte engine blocks....................

Check out the other threads for MR2 for sale.... there might still be a few that has not been bought yet.... and a few which has already been snatched up.

Or if your willing to rebuild a bit you can get a turbo for 28+ or an N/A for cheaper.

no, hehehe it takes time... keep look in motor trader and keep asking around, you'll fine one. If you are in a hurry, then the common price is about 30 plus as said by the others.

Dude, try to make your fingers work a little more and grab yourself a copy of motor trader if you really want an mr2. Incidentally, there are at least 2 for sale somewhere in this forum.
