Rather puny engine  That inline 6 engine meows..compared to the S600's growl.
Well I don't really like S Class cause too big and heavy. E Class is the max size I like for a sedan. Also enough la for novice driver like me. Can still upgrade to Brabus 3.8 ltr stroker kit if got money and want a bit more power. If going for really big engine, I'd prefer W124 E430 or E500 V8 but never seen it here.

leonl, conti cars has that passion built in the car which you can feel. Every twitch, touch or turn, you felt it. Everytime I sit into the driver's seat of a conti. I feel the passion they put into the car when they built it. The car is built not to just make money but to let the owner enjoy the car. It's more than an everyday A to B transportation. It has more than that compare to the Japanese cars except for those high end or performance cars.
Well said.

WHAT!?! You comparing the A4 with the 3-series and C-Class? Now it's my turn to be dissapointed in you. (hehehe) IMHO the current 3-series is downright fugly. The new C-class is very handsome and the A4 is the brute of the lot. I'd go for brute anytime and gotta love that S4 with the 19" rims and bodykit. Going over potholes? No problem, you won't feel a thing. Cornering? Magneto-thingy-whatchamacallit stiffens up the suspensions and corner like a god and oh... helloooo Quattro!

I think the IS is not too shabby in the looks department but if it was the same money as a A4, I wouldn't think twice about getting that A4.

Oh come on man, the RS and the S range of those Audis are awesome handling and performance machines. The RS4 was on par with the M3 in tests but most reviewers are enthusiasts and any enthusiast will always say RWD will always be more fun compared to 4WD.

And I think the word you're looking for is "Soul". Not a lot of cars have that kind of feel.
I can see that for the last few years, Audi is coming into play. I really solute Audi designers to design many beautiful cars. I like AWD in snow, gravel and off road. I like RWD for daily, autox and track

Is it worth to buy a 10 years Mercedes CLK200? How is the maintenance?

Dan,

not sue about the CLK but having own a W210 E class with the same M111 engine, the maintenance is as normal cars...not too high.. and IMHO... anything that is still mechanical is still worth buying....

enjoy the CLK :driver:...W209 or W209??

Mercedes might look like an uncle's car but don't underestimate the power behind in their hoods especially AMG models. Example like S65 AMG. More horsepower and torque than the supercar looking SLS AMG. Seriously, normal people would not have expected that if they just compare both cars based on looks alone.

The w series by Merc's were the most robust and tough looking cars. The pullovers were awesome and is quite extensively used for the most bureaucrats and politicians. They are quite powerful and fun to drive. Light in a box coupon

A Mercedes will always be stereotyped with being an uncle or rich man's car though this isn't true..that's the general outlook of those in Malaysia. And if a younger person is driving, automatically the car will be "father's car"..haha.
I still think the older Benz were almost bullet proof when it comes to realiability. Especially the W126 which I feel is the best S class ever made. Also the one before that, the W116. Both these cars were ahead of their time when it came to technological advancements, ride comfort and sheer driving pleasure.

dareDan,

bear in mind that this a 98 model thus it is a 15 years old car..... but merc is known for a workhorse.... and you can see lots of them are still strong on the road....

and being a 15 years old car...wear and tear is an issues...
parts so far is ok... as I am myself drivng a W210 E200 year 2000....as long as not many techy things inside... it should be fine.... but test drive first...

a stereotype as uncle car ... YES
a rich man's car... YES if new...NO lerr if 10-20 years old ones like mine heheheh
prestige..... YES...

coz I got a story to tell...

We used to own a neo that my wife drove everyday to office.. and oftenly she picked me up from office..
my office had this nepalese guard would blew the whistle and chased away my wife for parking by the side of the office... while waiting for me...
but... after we bought the 13 years old W210.... as usual she came by and was looking for a spot while waiting for me...
to her surprise... the guards.. blew their whistle and called her and offered her a slot to park.....

Tell me about it. I once had my ass handed over to me by a s-class snake eyes edition. I don't know what model because he was going way way way faster than me in the long sweeping curve bend with almost no body roll. I was going 110km/h and he overtook me like a bawse like a butter fly floating past me. Easily 150km/h in that sweeping corner.

Unbelievably stable!

Uncle car my ass!

Some might consider a Lamborghini Murcielago as being a very rare machine over here, or even a Ferrari 599 GTO. Yes, while those are some rare specimens rolling in Malaysia, there are some that we had ever even thought existed. Those that are usually seen in the Land of Stars and Stripes with...
