The myth has been busted you could say, that gamers who enjoy a session of Gran Turismo (GT) on their Sony Playstation don’t necessarily make good drivers in real life. Well, forget that, it appears that it does evoke the racer within us and besides, Lucas Ordonez has proven it all wrong.

From the realm of virtual cars to REAL rac cars on REAL circuits, Ordonez used to come home after MBA classes and do some unwinding by playing GT5 on his Playstation. But when Nissan came out with a pilot programme in conjunction with Sony, which called out to all gamers who love GT; things got serious.

After having won the “GT Cup” three years ago from a field of 25,000 participants, Ordonez now races in the Le Mans 24 Hours for real!

Now, the game’s getting a new edition that’s soon to be released - Gran Turismo 5: Academy Edition, which should be appearing on 16th September 2012 and Ordonez is at the tip of the spear, helping to promote the new game.

The game will feature a shiny disk inside which will contain the packs available for the last two years: Car Packs 1, 2 and 3, Course Packs 1 and 2, the Special Paint Pack and Racing Gear Pack, and the very same virtual Nissan GT-R that Kazunori Yamauchi drove in the Nürburgring 24-Hour race this year.
