Well over a year ago, one of our customers purchased an R35 GT-R, had it painted by one of the local body shops that we worked with and then had us install our AMS Alpha 9 GT-R package along with a built 3.8L and Alpha trans upgrade. This was the highest hp Alpha 9 we had built to date and we dubbed it the Agent Orange GT-R. He had since sold the car in immaculate condition, in which case a local resident to the Chicagoland area decided to take it off his hands.
The new owner continued work on the GT-R, changing the upholstery and other aesthetics, installing a JL Audio system and interior lighting before bringing it back to AMS for another drastic change. He wanted additional power from the GT-R...more than the 790awhp that it was already making on race gas and he wanted it all done on 93 octane pump gas.
A solution that we agreed upon was to convert this Alpha 9 to an Alpha 10 setup which ended up turning it into the highest hp pump gas GT-R. I'll be sure to explain the differences between the Alpha 9 & 10 in the images that follow.
The Agent Orange GT-R made its way back into the shop with a few changes that surprised us.
Its seats were reupholstered with orange suede along with orange accent panels and foot well lighting to complement the exterior of the car.
A JL Audio sound system with custom sub enclosure was also installed.
Conversion to the Alpha 10 from an Alpha 9 would not require too many changes outside the turbo kit and fuel system. The GT-R already had our 3.8 liter race engine (with upgraded internals) and most of the exhaust (minus downpipe swap).
As this engine sits in this picture, it has the Alpha 9 setup with our upgraded billet wheel turbos and AMS catless downpipes which will be replaced with our larger Alpha 10 turbos and stainless steel race downpipes.
Here is an image of some of the components to be installed. On this cart are AMS cast equal length manifolds, AMS race downpipes, TiAL MV-S 38mm wastegates, Alpha 10 spec turbos, and a new set of K&N filters. On the level below are AMS intake & intercooler piping and heat shields
Passenger side manifold showing v-band flanges for both turbo and wg.
Billet aluminum wheel with liquid-cooled dual ball-bearing center section offers quicker spool-up when compared to a standard compressor wheel of the same size.
Stainless steel race downpipe connected to both the turbo and TiAL wastegate.
A heavy duty polished stainless steel heat shield provides protection against heat and fire within the cramped confines of the GT-R's engine bay.
Heat shield covers up to the wastegate flange
All lines and hoses are well protected with sleeves and fire-proof gold sheeting

Engine is ready to be reinstalled
Our new fuel rail kit has been added along with our fuel system upgrade. This will be available soon
Black powder coated intake and intercooler piping can be seen here. In addition, AMS MAF and MAP sensors added to ensure smoother drivability on such a high horsepower GT-R.
