Most people cannot drive in a car without air conditioning(AC). Sometimes, even though the air conditioning system is working properly, you still feel that the air coming out from the diffusers are not cold enough, especially when you are stuck in a traffic jam. Well there is a simple DIY that you can do to help make your AC more efficient and in a way, gives colder air.

Many car manufacturers do not insulate the condensate AC line because of saving cost. Of course, the AC will still work fine but not efficient as it could be because heat from the engine or ambient air will go into the cold condensate pipe line (low pressure line or some would call it). If you insulate it, less heat will go into the system and you will get colder air. Some of you might think that your air conditioning is cold enough so there is no need to insulate it. While you are partly correct, insulating it will increase your AC System overall efficiency. When less heat is absorbed, the compressor will have to work less. This will also help save fuel.

Noticeable changes to the AC is colder air, and time to cool down the space is also faster. After insulating, do not full blast the air cond at the coldest. Because the temperature in the low pressure line is lowered, if there is not enough heat transfer from the cabin, the refrigerant might not be fully vaporized and will shorten the compressor lifespan. When the air cond air is colder, set the thermostat to optimum comfortable temperature to enjoy its benefits and efficiency. Please keep in mind that with or without insulation, full blasting the AC system will shorten the lifespan of the compressor.
