A bit of ATF in Manual Transmission?

Seriously a series of car faults these days....

I went for a manual transmission fluid change. I brought my own gear oil. After draining my transmission of the old oil, it was time to fill in the new. The worker used a machine that was meant to flush ATF to pump my new gear oil into my gearbox. I wasn't sure if that was the standard procedure, so I kept quiet but made sure he flushed the machine thoroughly. And I did ask him to run the machine through with more fresh gear oil.

Long story short, after pumping out the ATF and running with gear oil for a bit, the fluid coming out was still a bit pale red. Only halfway through filling, the fluid turn to the colour that a gear oil suppose to have (dark yellow gold). There may be a bit of ATF in my transmission now.

Is there any adverse effects? Will it damage or shorten the gearbox lifespan? For the record, I'm using a C160 6 speed synchromesh transmission.

Not too sure how much went in, but a little I think not a problem but for my manual gear oil, my mechanic just pour in with a tube leading to the filler hole. The moment it starts to leak out means it is full. Wonder why yours use the atf machine to fill?

That noob bugger... Anyways, not too much I guess? Because it has been flushed slightly beforehand. When it starts entering, it is not bright red but pale red. After about a litre or so it became golden like a gear oil colour.

Manual all gears inside only. If manual gear oil goes into ATF then probably not good......lol

Veloc : what does it feel like when you drive? Smooth as butter or rough?
Okay... Tested 3 hours drive. Smooth as butter. No issues.

Read tonnes of forums and many said that a bit of ATF is fine. Old mechanic's trick is to put small volumes of ATF in diff cases and some gearbox for its anti wear and anti foam properties. Not that I agree with such unstested methods, but at least it shows thta there is no harm....

What gb oil you using and what viscosity? I have tried a few. My very old (80 model) Honda recommends engine oil multi grade 20w-50. After that all my manual ride uses 90, then 80w-90 and one time 75w-90 also, but now back to 80w-90.
If you can get your hands on Lubegard Manual transmission additive try that. Since your gb is in good condition it might just help you protect further. My Hyundai have some sticky issue and even the synchromesh on the 2nd gear giving problem. I threw in a bottle of the Lubegard and after running for a while the sticky problem disappear and the synchromesh problem also lighten up. Very much less grrrrrr problem when shift into 2nd gear now

Was on the crappy Nasa SAE90 since i changed this gearbox 6 months ago. Just for a first flush. It does the job, but nth great. Now on toyota's 80w90 GL4. Smooth as cream. Every shift is seamless even when cold. Unlike the Nasa that needs nore effort.

Another thing, i never knew gear oil has an effect, but my car feels lighter and easier to accelerate.

It does have effect. 80w-90 means is slightly lighter than full 90. Full 90 when cold will be stiffer until warm up. Once I got try Toyota 75w-90 in Gold/Black can before also.....:driver:

It's all part of your drivetrain.. sure la will have difference. That's like the difference between wearing silk boxers and cotton. Cotton breathable and comfy, walk also faster. Silk so bloody hot and stuffy, balls hot and you'll want to sit down more.
