If for modding then I would go for :
1) B16A or B
2) 4AGE
3) 4G92
4) SR16VE

Honda has endless list of tuning parts followed by Toyota.

If want to keep it standard then :

1) SR16VE Version II
2) B16B
3) 4AGE 6MT
4) B16A
5) 4G92

Since these engine are old finding halfcut or engine kosong considering the price :

1) 4AGE
2) B16A
4) B16B
3) 4G92
4) SR16VE
SR16VE version II?

can u pls enlighten me on what chassis it sits and on what it starts to produce? i might learn something..

because IMO, there's only two version of SR16VE. the normal SR16VE and the SR16VE N1. the latter was limited version.

just 2 share,apparently i found out even a STOCK SR16VE engine runs on 85mm pistons(a fren who owns 1 told me abt dis).....so,imagine d power & torque it'll produce..n yeah,i saw d comparo in Best Motoring too.....d Pulsar shredded d EK9 to pieces!
d reason y B16A/B is known 2 b d more "powerful" engine is becoz of it's abundance of aftermarket tuning parts.......if really stock vs stock,i got no idea coz i've never driven any stock version of all d above-mentioned engines....stock-ED got lar!hahahahhahaah
can be easily stroke to 2.0.
the only difference was either to maintain the 16ve pistons which is very high CR or use any other 20DE, 20DET or 20VE pistons to be on the safe side.

4AGZE with stock cam and stock crank pulley.. past 4500rpm = lose power... ;)
I couldn't agree more..plus stock ignition timing..very conservative and safe ignition timing..no contest if stock 4agze wanna fight b16, 20v and Neo..my own opinion la..

Just to add, B16A (non Type R) has two types... "small" VTEC and "big" VTEC. I guess we all know that the "big" VTEC makes the most power out of B16A (excluding B16B Type R). Surely SR16VE N1 makes the most power for a factory stock 1.6l, but that engine is very rare and were limited to about 250 units IIRC.

Anyways, here are my findings based on previous dyno shootout held at Vision Auto (Tom's) Sunway:

B16B Type R (with some mods): 175whp+/-
Stock 20v BT: 139whp+/-
Stock B16A "big" VTEC: 136whp+/-
Stock SR16VE Neo VVL: 130whp+/-

nice finding and info bro..now we can see they all are almost equal in power..how bout torque figures?

yes...16VE neo oem viscous LSD gearbox ratio is not as good as B16A.

Here you go .... N15 Nissan Pulsar VZ-R N1 Version 2....... 200ps
There is 3 version of SR16VE
1)VZ-R 175ps
2)VZ-R N1 version I
3)VZ-R N1 version II

I think the engine maybe the same as V1 however they may have enhanced others things.
ohh...thanks bro. now i remember. yeah you're right. version I or II is the same. version 1 1997 to early 1998 sold complete at production of 400 units, 200 lucino and 200 pulsar, version 2 late 98-00 only sold 36 units, main reason being the price of 3.2 million yen at the time was more expensive than a Mitsubishi Evolution. They had planned on a version 3 but after version 2’s poor sales figures this was abandoned.
Nissan geng just called them neo N1.

the main difference between SR16VE neo and SR16VE neo N1 is:

1. Larger intake and larger throttle body, if i am not mistaken, its between 70-80mm. i'm not sure on this..but, what i know is.. the throttle body is so large that there is a butterfly valve in the intake system to stop the engine suffocating itself at low RPM.

2. eight injectors. YES...a 1.6L with 8 injectors.. 2 fuel rails each with 4 injectors so in total 8x333cc injectors.

3. cylinder head skimmed to achieve higher CR.

4. Lower comp pistons ( with the head skimmed the comp with the original 16VE pistons would have been to high

5. higher profile cam degree and lift, as well as upgraded valve spring and retainer

6. 4 c/w lighter balanced crankshaft

5. Lightened flywheel

6. Modified exhaust manifold ( Apparently Nissan employed fujitsubo to make the inlet and exhaust manifolds how true? it's still anybody’s guess but on examination they are remarkable similar to flow and design)

Thanks bro MKMD428 for the info. I been very fascinated by the neo vvl engines.

more info......

Bore and stroke info will give u some indication of the Hp and torque.
81.0 x 77.0 : 4AGE 1587cc
81.0 x 77.4 : B16A 1595cc
81.0 x 77.5 : 4G92 1597cc
86.0 x 68.7 : SR16VE 1596cc

Points to note :
- As you can see 4AGE is the smallest engine and 4G92 is the largest.
- SR16VE is big bore and short stroke therefore explains the good hp.
- 86.0 piston commonly used in 2.0 engines like SR20, 3SGE and K20A.
