block guard is a good investment that is inexpensive, I agree with that. but my point is, the stock B16 bottom is reasonably strong to withstand decent amount of boost. of course they cannot compare with aftermarket parts that's made specifically for boost/racing application.yes you can produce highpower from std block with no sleeves or block guard. But the question to ask is for how long can it last...R u building the engine for daily driven? or just for dyno shoot out??
better safe than sorry, blockguard is not expensive to invest on nowadays just for the extra safety...just my 2 cents or maybe 1 cent
