Rumours have been going around that the Kancil would be retained as an ultra-low end model, with the new car replacing only the Kelisa, but Perodua managing director Syed Hafiz Syed Abu Bakar has cleared these doubts, saying Perodua will have a single model serving the 1 liter and below segment. Some specifications of the new car have been released by Perodua - the 1.0 liter Kancil Replacement Model will come in both manual and automatic transmissions, but there will also be manual-only variants in both 660cc and 850cc form. All 3 engine variants will feature electronic fuel injection and DVVT dynamic variable valve timing.
Perodua says this replacement for both the current Perodua Kancil and Perodua Kelisa will be out in the first half of 2007, most likely from March 2007 onwards. Since it is replacing both the Kancil and Kelisa, we can assume it’s engine options will serve both ranges of cars - 660cc, 850cc and 1,000cc. UPDATE: In an interview with Bernama, Perodua shareholder UMW Holdings Bhd’s group chairman Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin said the new car would come with 660cc and 1,000cc engines, and carburettors would be phased out and replaced with electronic fuel injection.

last year this is what a used car salesman tell me....saying tat kelisa will go much lower value after a replacement released....what the heck?

dun really bother whether it's true or not....but more choices if it's true.......

It is based on the current Daihatsu Charade aka Mira. See the blue car and the pink car in the first post.

Perodua as usual, took it and did a bit of restyling.

The Cuore(Mira/Kelisa) was the replacement for the the old Mira (Kancil). So to have a new car to replace both is quite correct.

I had a Kelisa for a couple of years. One of the best screwed Local cars and an economical car to run

Kelisa replacement reason?

The Perodua Kelisa rose to international fame in a recent DVD by Jeremy Clarkson ('Heaven or Hell') where a brand new Kelisa was purchased by the producers of the show. With only around 80 miles on the odometer, the purchase was described as a 'Public Service' as now that the car had been bought, no one else could buy it.*Kelisa GXi £5,499 + *Kelisa EZi £6,399

This car was then sufficiently 'Tortured' to make it pay for it's sins, and was destroyed to be sent to hell.

This included a severe beating with a sledge hammer in front of the dealer (in full view of the bewildered sales staff), being hung from a crane with a one ton weight until the front crossmember collapsed and the front of the car tore off and finally being blown up with dynamite. Kelisa's name and reputation ruined by Jeremy Clarkson? So merge Kancil and Kelisa together? LoL!! Let's hope the new model will succeed Jeremy Clarkson's Heaven & Hell's HELL this time and prove him wrong... =^P

the rear of the car looks like avanza and the front looks like myvi.

read in The Sun UK edition some time ago that the ppl there described a Kelisa as 'a sardines can on wheel'...

The Brits are just jealous as their Major car industry are all foreign owned. American (Ford, Jag, Aston Martin ), Germans (Rolls, Bentley, Mini ), Japanese (Nissan & Honda plants) and Malaysian (Lotus) own them now.

Perodua is currently sponsoring fishing competition - Joran - which they will give away 2 'new models' if i'm not mistaken.

so, definitely, new models are coming out later this month. or atleast, this year.
