Planning to own an 2006 Integra DC5 type R for daily use, not for track or any run, just personally love it because it looks cool and rare. Self aware that it is a 12-years old car. Any advise or comments ??

If you are ok with it using only RON97 fuel and above, then that is one question solved for your daily drive question.

For me I think it should be ok coz its still just a hot hatch car, not really a pure sports car like a Lotus Elise for example. Having said that there are people who daily drive a Lotus Elise. So it all depends what you consider as practical for daily drive. People have different perceptions and tolerance so we cannot really say if it can be suitable for you or not to daily drive it.

It was never a practical car.. dude it has 2 doors how practical is it. It's a cool car, its great if you're a lonely driver.

Ferrying more than 1 passenger plus driver - nope, pain in the ass
Big ass boot? - nope
Tall ride height for easy ingress/egress - nope

12 years old, be prepared to change every single rubber bushing, tear and wear like brake discs, pads, shock absorbers, engine mounting etc

I hv once talked to guys who specialise in modifying vtec n some vtec lovers, they saying this car production is not much in the market and especially Honda is well accepted in msia market so they said if you found a good condition one, worth buy n if u keep it well, the price won’t drop n Mayb will increase.

Wad they said make some sense also, my fren bought an eg 2doors converted b16a in 2006 about 32k. He sold the car for 30k in 2013.

So why not buy it n maintain it n enjoying it?

When you say "daily" what do you mean? Just drive to work and the shops only? Any family? With a partner or alone? With old folks?

I daily drove a R32 for a month and it was great. Alone in the car and sometimes to pick the daughter from tuition.
Then I daily drove a Porsche 966 for a week and it was great.

The only thing about both those cars is RON97 and parts are stupid expensive so maintenance is high. Not really great for a average bloke like me since I don't make big bucks. But if I were rich I'd daily the Porsche. It's so easy to drive and quite practical.... if you're just 2 people only kinda guy.

Keyless entry, Apple Carplay, remotely turning on the a/c BEFORE I get to the car. Pretty sure I want to daily a modern car. Seriously the best feature is keyless entry. The convenience factor is just top notch, I recommend it to everyone buying a new car because it's really a practical thing to have.

Of course I get to drive a stick from time to time, still nice to do that, but wouldn't want to daily it without the nice amenities.

The Swift is my first car with the keyless feature and honestly I still don't see what's the big deal with this feature other than just making it a bit more convenient to open the door!

I suggest you join forums and FB groups for this car and do a lot of reading up on questions asked by owners when problems crop up. You will learn a lot from these questions. Also, if you want to "play" older cars like these, i suggest you adopt a more hands on approach on maintenance and not just totally rely on workshops.

I guess that rules out the AXIA...

No problem. There is a starting point for everyone out there where it is the first time that they learn about something. No issues and don't worry about it. As for common problem, sorry that I can't help you much there because I don't own a DC5 nor did I know anybody that drives a DC5.

The thing about the question of practicality for daily use actually differs from people to people. It depends on what sort of car you grew up with, what sort of people/society that you mix with and what kind of location that you normally drive in.

Like myself for example, living in Ipoh, growing up with budget entry level cars, my standards for practical daily car is pretty low. I'm driving a Saga Iswara as a daily car and that car is quite basic compared to many cars today. It doesn't have electronically controlled side mirror adjustment, no power steering, manual gearbox, no reverse sensor, no airbags, etc... Good thing that the two front windows are electronically powered and the car's remote control system for the alarm still works with central locking. A car like my Saga Iswara is definitely a horrible piece of crap for some of my similarly aged peers but for me, I'm fine with driving it daily to here and there. I can live with the manual gearbox and the powerless steering. So, it is like I said, practicality actually varies from people to people. I can't say my definition of a practical daily car works for everyone and yet, I can't say that I need all the things listed by others as necessary for their practical daily car.

Watch this incredibly balanced machine, take on the Autopolis track. He laps a respectable 1:54:09 minute around the Autopolis track. His machine is so balanced that it could carve the corners around the circuit so easily. The V-TEC sound is synonimous with all things Honda, so a video not to be missed.
