Ah! ok, I google up the place, so you had a 5 hours drive each way.

What happened to Bira track at Pattaya? My Thai friend says he used to hold their club race there?

Yes Bira is still open for club racing, I go sometimes, it is only 45 minutes drive from my condo.

There was a rumor that it would be sold for housing :( but they have updated some of the buildings and spent a bit of money on the place recently so hopefully it will be open for the foreseeable future :)

https://www.facebook.com/BiraCircuitPattaya/

The guy who I found to look after my car races a CK2/F-style body Lancer with a 4G92 Mivec like mine and tells me when he is racing.

I have another Thai friend who races a Sonic, and also a couple of Western friends, one races a tiny Daihatsu Mira and the other a Mark 1 Ford Escort with a SR20DET.

Now I have big brakes and my Engine running good I might even take my own car on the track at Bira :)

recent race:

My friend from Galant VRC club.He mentioned holding races there....:driver:
Yah! hope they keep the track. In Malaysia, we lost the famous Batu Tiga track, now all residential houses....:bawling:
Even after Sepang International Circuit was built, we still had Saturday night races there and you will be surprised by the number of people, both racers and spectators. Now gone, that is why probably more racing on public road....lol

thanks for the interesting photos, I heard the journey from BKK to the circuit isn't the most enjoyable, how did you do in your own car?

can't wait visit the Buriram circuit myself soon

yes in my own car with a friend, left 5:30 am and made one short stop at a petrol station on the way, took about 5 hours from where I which is just a little south east of BKK.

Its an impressive modern racetrack by Thai standards, the only thing which would make it better is some elevation, (like Bira, or my favorite UK track Brands Hatch) but the land it was built on is totally flat so that was not possible.

Would like to go to a car meeting there also in the future.

bira is nice track.... but the facility is old standard pretty much like a bit better than the old demolished batu 3 track... sad to see batu 3 track demolished for greedy population..

they have recently updated some of the buildings and the cafe is much nicer than before, still not international standard by a long way but i hope it is a sign the owners plan to keep it alive

Nice, I'm also a fan of MotoGP racing, those guys are the true speed demons.
Not demon, i bet demon are not crazy enough to hang on an engine with too much power, lean at corner with physics and movement that does not make sense,
when the machine starts to break loose they dont back off, stop from ballistic speed using front brakes only most of the time(true bikers understand this)...

They do all the above knowing the fact if they fall, they have their 'super' suit to protect them. Dont get me started when they quickly get up and ran after their bikes if they fell off.

I guess it's not too bad then, 5hrs is still at the edge of acceptable.
I can foresee a couple of PTT stops for Amazon iced coffee along the way when I head there in the near future

It is completely flat as seen on on board videos,
as for circuit elevation, it does get easier if the land had natural contours but I don't think man-making a couple of track sections with some banking or elevation would have hurt the Buriram owners much, nevertheless, it still look like a glorious circuit to drive on, reminds me a little of Yas Marina, which is almost completely flat as well, but nothing as wide as Buriram
