salam 1 kangkung.

i'm lemongrass farmer.my kebun are little far away from road but dont need 4x4.

every day i just harvest 2 bakul of lemongrass for several restaurants' demand

i'm planning to replace my van.there are two choice:

terrano RM 9k + sr20det h/c auto 4k +trans cost 3k=16 k

pajero l049 11k + 4d56t h/c auto 8k + trans cost 4k=23 k

my budget 20k+7k of van sale = 27 k

i hope otai's can give opinions to help me make choice.
pardon my english:proud:

my concern only enjin n gb reability also sparepart availability.any equipment can be add by after market products.

terrano sr20det is cheaper,roadtax n insurans.
but pajero 4d56t has many parts available in shop

fuel consumption at 90 km/j constant;rpm(google)

sr20det :9.5 km/l;2300 rpm.quieter but not as u sit in benz
4d56t :10 km/l;2200 rpm(non commonrel)noisy

see?it has similarity at normal use.

but 4d56t is more resistance against brutal abusive driver.meanwhile i'm gentleman and lovely man.will never ever thrash my precious.

Please dont buy sr20det,it will leave us with less cheap parts.kikikiki

owh btw my sr20det 90km/h is 2.5krpm and the fuel consumption with 550cc injectors is 10.5/l on 180sx body. daily drive it about 90km per day. everthing works...but you have to take good care of it.

s14 engine with vtc i guess will get better mileage. But imho sr20det will suffer with heavy load, whats the weight of terrano anyway?

terrano 4x4 has 1540 kg curb weight
but the transfer case alone is 40 kg.
i like to remove the transfer case. it will be rwd
so it will have 1500 kg weight

i wonder how to change water pump since it use timing chain?i never change anything in my van engine as service regularly at 6k km

anyway,tqvm mr.egb18c 4 ur info.how about noise when travel at 90 km/j?

noise level at 2.5krpm is acceptable, at 3krpm (110kmh) is noisy, just because of the exhaust is too big(more hamster powahhh).

Water pump is not driven by chain, its driven by FEAD system, belting.Just unscrew the bolt, then walla its off.

1340kg is acceptable, that light, even my 180sx around 1.3tonne. But the engine is not that powerful due to small turbine.if you want more power just find s14 engine and wiring since it has a bigger turbo and it can go let say 280-300hp.

no wonder u said that rm3k for the transmission, custom stuff heh,sr20det gearbox is really cheap,rm500-rm800 only, more than that is trying their luck.

trans is transplanting kos with minimal part change.sori 4 my typo
i asked tokey, hc sr20det auto w/o bodypart n rear axel n longshaft is 4k.is that ok?

sori ,terrano curb weigh w/o transfer case is 1.5 tonne.but even crv 2nd gen has more weight.(10 km/l)

i dont want high power.just low end power.never rev like mad.

3k rpm is max for feathery right foot.

sr20det can be tune to get responsive at earlier rpm?

responsive at lower rpm,u might as well search for rb25. with my old setup, stock small ass turbo, the fullboost is around 3krpm. If you want it to have an instant power, try to search for garrett ar80 turbo with ballbearing catridge, the turbo comes from gt4 sr20det FWD,i guess. cant remember which model. I might have slower spool as the engine is currently low on compression.hehe

Take good care, change the oil at 5k km,semi synthetic, then change the oil filter, just regular service.

After asking a few mechanics' opinion, I have found out the auto gearbox for my Wira a/b 1.6 is going to die soon. All have suggested replacing the gearbox. Now, I have switched gearbox 3 times already, and I'm tired of that. Furthermore, the car revs more than it moves, therefore consuming a lot of petrol.

A friend's mechanic said he can replace my gearbox with a manual one at RM1700. This includes a 4G93 1.8 gearbox, gear console, pedals, flywheel, clutchplate, starter and all other...
