Touge fever descends on Bukit Putus

The scene could have easily passed as an illegal ‘touge’ run around some picturesque Japanese mountain pass but this time around it was all legit, and right in our own backyard of Bukit Putus mind you.



Filled with the aural delight of engines bouncing off their rev-limiters through the hills from the local Proton boys right up to the ultra-exotics of Porsches and Lamborghinis, the Bukit Putus Charity Challenge (BPCC) 2011- King of the Hill brought together a wide variety of machines to tackle the narrow and twisty asphalt of Bukit Putus to be crowned the King of the Hill.



The Bukit Putus route has long been a revered path for the touge enthusiasts with a total of 33 turns confined within 3.3km of road. The only drawback was that, being a public road, it was strictly off-limits for pushing the boundaries of your machine.



At least, that was the case until legal avenues came about to closing it off for the purpose of competitions and enthusiastic driving.



A total of 37 cars participated in the event for charity, competing under three different; Group A for supercars, Group B for 1,600cc and above and Group C for 1,500cc and below.



Some of the machines that lined up for a crack at the title included the finest from Porsche such as a GT3RS, a rare Lamborghini Countach and Super Veloce, a Ferrari F430 and California, Lotus Elise as well as a wide array of Honda Civics, Toyota Starlets, Proton Satrias and even a number of Volvos, although none of them were here to fetch the kids from football practice.



The biggest draw though had to be the Zero Car, a homemade buggy that lead the way with the first run of the day, having been flagged off by the BPCC official ambassador, Fauziah Latiff, herself an avid biker, who came with a group of superbikers to show their support.



“We would like to thank Fauziah Latiff for her willingness to support the event by becoming our official ambassador. Many thanks and appreciations also to the organising committee of BPCC, all the sponsors, the team from B Artistic Events & Advertising, Yayasan Penyuluh Bakti, Traffic Magazine Online, Motorsport Association of Malaysia (MAM), Lotus Car Club of Malaysia, Blue Jackets Society, Volvo Owners Club of Malaysia (VOCM), EP Motor Club (EPMC), touge enthusiasts, government bodies as well as agencies and all other parties for turning this into a reality and success,” said Che Aziyah Tengku Idris, Director of B Artistic Events & Advertising, the organizer of the event.



The Motorsport Association of Malaysia (MAM) was on hand to observe the event while the time attack challenge was handled by the guys from our fellow media friends, Traffic Magazine Online.



In fact, the organizer is looking into turning the event into a three round annual series.



“As for the venue, the facilities are perfect. We could perform our Solat here, there were food and beverages, clean toilets and the safety measures taken are above my expectations. If the organiser will host this event again, I trust there will be a lot more interest and participants. Why not turn this into a two-day event?” said Mohd Ridzuan Ali, a participant and touge enthusiast that is better recognised among his peers as Oreedo.



Oreedo himself was behind the wheel of his wife’s daily driver, a Toyota Starlet Glanza V that came with an auto box.

Yes, these supercars are so expensive in our Bolehland. Who dare to risk their machine running off into the trees or ditch. If it's on a proper race track I think Jap cars got not much chance. Run off areas are wide and people dare to push their machines harder. But it's a nice event. Would like to join if have the chance.

Fast touge is all about balls and skill. doesn't matter much if it was street road racing or proper track, as long as the street road is secured from traffic where the 2 lane is all yours to dictate the corners' °, it should be okay to go fast. unless they can't bring themselves to push the expensive car to the limit; which itself kills half of the purpose of owning a supercar.
on SNF1, 2 and 3 series in Sepang, quite a number of the Japanese's offering are giving those European supercars; a run for their money. in fact, some come out top in the earlier series.

Dear all,

I'm driving the Saga BLM (A) 2010. Currently suffering powerless braking problem. Let me elaborate more on this matter.

When new car the brake feels ok but not really too good. After bout 9months feeling that the ORI pad cannot stand for high heat so decided change to Bendix Titanium. After change to Bendix Titanium, cool brake feel nothing while pedal have been fully pressed. For the Bendix Titanium i believe it can withstand for higher temp but too bad its fail me too...
