Am I too late to buy a skyline R34 GTT?

Hi Kmunz, no it's not too late to buy an ER34. If it's too late then those chaps that just bought R32 and R33s are way too late. Hehehe

While the ER34 is not as beasty as a BNR34 it's still a great 'little' car. Parts availability are not that difficult and it does share some common parts with other cars in the Nissan stable. That's one thing good about the R chassis and S chassis cars.

Wear and tear is inevitable thus I would suggest to refresh most vital parts if you were to get the car. Stuffs like all fluids, belts and pumps.

If you intend to keep it stock (which I really doubt you can :P), then the maintenance cost ain't that high. Just an oil change and an oil filter change at every maintenance interval. The bills will only pile up when you start to get itchy and begin the modding process.

If it's your dream and it's within your financial capability, by all means go ahead bro. Don't only regret when you are 40/50 years old and look back in anger. Kekeke

with what you have done to your car by getting it done stage by stage. In your blog it doesn't sate any cost on your mod and parts replacement. Mayb you can do that so that like what you said we will have idea on the onwer ship cost and experience :) BTW, i dun think i can give u a good offer.. lolz.. i can see you have been putting alot of effort into it :) (parts not expensive but your effort and inspiration cannot buy with money)

If Skyline is not your only dream car, there's alot of other good cars that's around the price range with lower maintenance, Evo 7, Silvia Spec R, Subaru WRX STi V8, these are all 2.0 so road tax are lower, insurance are also lower, Evo like Skylines have many parts available, same for Silvias.

There's also other good but older cars like GTO, R32, R33, Supra, RX-7, these maybe abit old and prone to parts replacements but nontheless still great cars. Money saved buying these cheaper cars can be used for repairs & upgrades.

Bro potato, thanks for your opinion older car I dun think i can get it coz most of them need to pay by cash (32 & 33). Still I would prefer to get 34 as it is my favourite car :) and its not because of performance car. Other recommendation given by you (rx-7, evo), :sleep: not really into it :biggrin:

I admit I am one such owner. I am lucky in the sense that when I bought the car (unregistered) it didn't give me any problems aside from worn out plugs which I fixed immediately.

Basic maintenance is manageable, in my opinion, as long as you don't go crazy with your mods. My car is stock standard with the exception of the air filter and exhaust. It still has the 180kmph speed cut.

At the end of the day, you need to know what you are willing to sacrifice in order to own one. If you can live with that, then I suggest you go for it.

Else, get a better paying job, a sugar daddy or mama (depending on your orientation), or keep on dreaming.

Thanks for understanding I think you really know what situation i am in now and i am currently finding ways to get 20% downpayment (not going to put all my saving into buying this car :bawling:

got other commitment). I agree the roadtax & tires are :banghead:

so expensive.. lolz
hopefully this car will be for weekend car and it will not cost me a bomb on maintenance. BTW, you are lucky to get an unregistered R34 :)

Admire also we will need to face the reality. If it is really a burden after purchasing the car, then it is not wise to buy. Thats the reason I raising this topic is for me to know if anything wrong with the car, can I easily obtain parts and will the parts cost me a bomb (not performance part). This is the burden I am talking about.

Mr Kmunz,

Let me reassure you, parts are easy to get, and not that expensive since there's a huge aftermarket for them and your options are many...you can even order used or new parts from Japan (JDM Autolink :proud:), direct from Australia, UK etc.

Another plus is the owners... they seem to be a very cool bunch...some are noisy and active like Temujin, Mr. Ajmeer etc...some are lower profile, quiet and shy type like me...but all are very helpful and enthusiastic about skylines. So you can get great info on where to get parts, where to have work done, where to have spirited drives etc. No lansee type so far.... :love:

Actually a great way of searching for your dream car is to come meet the current owners, go on passenger drives, this way you can learn and really inspect the different cars. And often you can get a great bargain on a well-known and looked after car....

Welldone Kmunz, we are on the same boat.. me was not very convince at intial part (same quest was running in ma mind, additional- my family hoping me to get a MPV) but it's (same shit) DREAM CAR so tutup mata and hantam. i'm in the process of getting r34 gtt too but the hassle part is the loan. 75% only bank loan and require strong documents etc.
Lets see how it goes on, hopefully the bank can reply me ASAP and i can drive it for CNY..

As mentioned by all Sifus, parts for rb25 are easy and the engines are only 11yrs old max.
If you are talking about machine like CA18DET (sx-180) its gonna be long long waiting..

Yes nowadays alot of ppl going for luxury jap cars and german cars but nothing comes like SKYLINE. I think ma granma also will love it :p

Bro, mayb you can go ask AMbank. I called today and they provide loan MAX 89K for this car at 4.9% interest 7 years. The problem is the bank told me I need to pay about 2.5K for transfering and loan insurance & etc. I thought transfer onwership will be done by 2nd hand car dealer? not really know their procedure. Got to check out for more information how much cash i need to use to obtain this baby... might dun hv the budget if too many cash involve :bawling:

Actually before i getting my 2002 nur last year. i had this question in my mind too.
But sometimes we really cant think too much . if we think too much, make yourself confuse. you get nothings. Just consider how much monthly pay lo. How much we can pay, other, put behind first. But Make sure choose a good condition car.

As Long As you get your dream car.

Go for it cos nothing can touch it for the same price even if you are buying a new car. Putting a down payment for a car and maintaining the loan, you have to be happy that your investment gives you satisfaction in the long term. The car is not old even for an 11 year old car, since the build quality for Japan spec CBU is top notch. Mine still so intact and solid after 6 years of ownership. Never regret it one bit...time for you to take a LEAP of JOY!
