3. 4 secs / 620ps / 760nm / 3.9L V8 twin scroll twin turbo / 7,500rpm / 1,472kg / 8 speed DCT / 320km+ / RM986K before tax and options

Yet another new Ferrari arrives KL but this time, the mood is different. It is the Prancing Horse's latest GT entry, featuring a 620ps V8 twin turbo up front but mounted in the middle, then paired with a very new, 8 speed dual clutch box.

8 Speed Dual Clutch Box

The new 8-DCT box is 6kg lighter than the current 7-speed version and apparently, it shifts smoother and quicker via new low viscosity oil delivery with a dry-sump system, improving fluid dynamic efficiency which is what makes the new Ferrari 8-DCT either more responsive at full volume or seamless in the city.

This DCT box is taken from Ferrari's new SF90 Stradale PHEV and the biggest changes made to suit the non-hybrid Roma are longer gear ratios to match the GT mood and the inclusion of a reverse gear as the electric motor assisted SF90 didn't need a mechanical one. The clutch module is also new, despite being shrunk 20% smaller, it is now able to handle 35% more torque.

The Roma celebrates the good old times of the 50s and proportions wise, it is inspired by the silhouette of grand touring legends 250 GT and GT 2+2 with the mile long bonnet, front engine RWD configuration.

Power and Platform

As with the base platform, its 3.9L 620ps V8 twin turbo engine is borrowed from the Portofino and further tuned. But the Roma is pure GT, faster and intended to fill the gap between the Portofino and the F8.

Every new boosted Ferrari promises to be lag free and instantaneous. The Roma is no different, and apart from employing twin scroll turbocharging, with Variable Boost Management which unlocks more power as the transmission gear number climbs, also a smaller flat plane crankshaft among other mechanical components used to quicken engine response.

New Cockpit

The cockpit's new crown jewel is non other than Ferrari's brand new cinematic instrument cluster. It is a single piece 16" hi-def curved screen with a brilliant blue hued UI that could have come straight out of Avengers. it is completely personalizable, eg tactical central tacho with split screen vitals or full screen nav for city recon, the choice is yours, Tony.

Ferrari's all-in-one steering wheel is brand new as you can tell from the backlit markings beneath the smoked, glass-like surfaces. It's received further digitization with multi touch control buttons, even haptic controls and a touchpad on the right spoke for nav control. Driving mode selector thankfully, has been kept manual.

The Ferrari Roma coupé will be here for private viewing (by appointment) until 29th June 2020.

Why do I get some Aston vibes from the silhouette? Is it just me?

hi guys...

does anyone here recommend TRD Suspension Kit...this would be for a MyVi...the kit is being retailed for RM2500...was considering between this, Titan (RM2000) and GAB...please advise and give your personal reviews...

i have used Titan before on my kelisa and loved them...but it was rather hard...sacrificing comfort quite a bit...the goal im hoping to get is to have improved handling with reasonable comfort since the MyVi is not really meant for cornering...just want to improve...
