Hello guys...

right now i'm researching new tyres for my wife's Swift ZC21S
orginal tyre size 185/60R15
changed to 16" rims and use Toyo DRB 195/50R16 (-0.27% diameter)
now i'm looking for 205/50R16 (+1.39% diameter)

budget is around RM190 - RM230 per donut
prefer to get asymmetrical tyre rather directional but can always change my mind
will be getting the tyre in 1-2 months time
looking for comfort/sport tyres as my wife drives quite fast on the hiway
as Msia rains a lot, i'd prefer to get good aquaplaning resistance, good traction and braking in wet
budget limits me to Touring or low level UHP tyres, so no GY F1, Mich PS, Conti SC and the likes...

i've narrowed down the asymmetrical tyre available in Msia:
1) Falken Ziex ZE914
2) Kumho Ecsta HS51
3) Nexen N8000 (loved this but already old and hard to find now)

my research also includes directional tyre models which are:
1) Kumho Ecsta PS31
2) Hankook Ventus V2 Concept2 (H457)

i would like to include these in my research but i think its not available in Msia:
1) Hankook Ventus Prime 3 (K125) (excellent reviews from EU mags)
2) Dunlop Sport BluResponse (excellent reviews from EU mags)

anyway, i guess i will stick to the asymmetrical tyre for easier comparison.
so anyone has been using Falken ZE914 and Kumho HS51 care to give some thoughts and opinions?
thanks guyss...

914 is not up to it's category standard. It's cheaper than the competition but realistically you're better off with a Michelin PS3 or 4 tyre.

Don't know about the other one

I think better you keep to 195/50R16, 205/50R16 might be a bit heavy. Even though 1.39% bigger only but adding 20mm width over original size.
Coming to the tyres, ZE914 have traction rating B only if I am not mistaken
Kumho HS51 even though under Ecsta category but is Summer Touring only not UHP, but not bad.
N8000 is proven
Kumho PS31 is not bad but heard of some bulging issues but not sure which model
Ventus V2 Concept 2 is HP all season....

ze914 doesnt even fit in that rating compared to other tyre listed above...

if u were still on stock oem wheel, there is quite a lot 185/60-15 tyre size option...

but me personally will change into 195/50-15 or even 195/55-15... u can have loads more tyre selection at cheaper price also

What do u mean by not even fit into that rating?

I hv also mentioned that the Swift is now on 16" wheels.

Btw, i hv fitted ZE914 (195/55R16) to the car about 2.5 weeks ago and done about 2K kms already.
And what can i say is that its a very good tyre and a wise choice for this car..

ZE914 are mid category, what he meant is compared to N8000 and PS31, these are UHP category.

Anyway, since you have fitted and works for your priorities then is ok.....

Toyo DRB also somewhere mid category, even though mentioned in their website as UHP.
Why? firstly it model name do not have Proxes in front, like Proxes T1-R, Proxes T1-Sports.
In their website also, it is listed away from the main Proxes tyres group, and they mention it is in between T1-Sports and C1-S. T1-Sports is top and C1-S is Mid.
