Apparently the guys at caranddriver.com managed to get their hands on 5 GT-Rs to either dyno-run or to drag-test. To their surprise, there were substantial variations on all 5 cars. Nissan claimed that the first four cars they tested were ‘early-build’ versions that received regular engine-computer software updates, which may account for the varied results that were recorded. GTR V-Spec Launch Delayed, But S-Tune Coming Out This Month

The arrival of the much anticipated Nissan GTR V-Spec has been delayed. Japan’s BestCar magazine reports that the GTR V-Spec’s expected launch at the 3rd quarter of this year has been put off till the end of this year or early 09. No reasons were given but on the bright side, Nissan will be releasing an Evolution or S-Tune version fitted with a number of parts developed by NISMO and used by them in the race-spec GTR that competed in the Tokachi 24-hour endurance race. Slightly less than a year after its introduction, the Nissan GTR has faced numerous comparisons against equivalent or far greater competition. The R35 has turned out on top almost all the time and even when it does appear less victorious, its on unequal grounds. Take this video for example, would you really race a 6 cylinder against a beast of a V12 in the shape of a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640, but the guys shooting the video obviously thought its a fair comparison, I’m not leaking out the result of the rolling start drag, but its pretty dramatic and shows just how accomplished the six cylinder engine of the GTR is compared to the 12 cylinders of the Lamborghini. The GTR saga continues, the guys over at Road & Track magazine have got their hands on the specifications on the highly anticipated Nissan GTR V-Spec and they have spilled the beans. Figures stand at 520 hp @ 6500 rpm, 440 lb.-ft. of torque all the way from 3200–5200 rpm, 1640kg, and earlier reports have confirmed that it laps the ‘Ring quicker than 7:25, that’s faster than a Porsche 997 GT2.
