March 9, 2010
A great video of Kimi’s big six-roller at the Rally of Mexico. Ken Block had a shunt as well but managed to go much further into the stage then the ‘Ice Man’, a video of Ken’s big moment is posted after the jump. Kimi’s recent performance in rallying does beg the question though, if Formula One drivers are so great, how come they hardly do well in rallying or other race series? Read more
Blast To The Past: 1999 French Rally Championship – Group A FWD Kit Cars
March 7, 2010
The Group A class was created to promote more private entries. In order to be homologated, 2500 examples of the competing car had to be put on sale by the manufacturer. Above is a great video of the cars that used to race in the class in the late 1990s, described by the compiler of the video as “notorious little hornets”, the fast, nimble, and lightweight kit cars, the video shows some of the best bits from the 1999 French Rally Championship. And the stars? French greats like the Citroen Xsara, Peugeot 306 Maxi and the Renault Megane. Kimi’s Bad Luck Continues: Crashes Out Spectacularly In Rally of Mexico
March 6, 2010

Ex-F1 driver Kimi Raikkonen has crashed out of Rally Mexico in spectacular fashion.
Raikkonen, who swapped F1 for rallying when Fernando Alonso replaced him at Ferrari, rolled his Citroen C4 six times on the final gravel stage of day one. Both Raikkonen and his co-driver Kaj Linstrom were unharmed, but the car was destroyed in the accident and he was forced to retire.
He finished 30th in Rally Sweden last month after a number of mistakes dropped him well down the order. He was also out of contention before his big accident in Mexico, but showed real potential on an asphalt stage when he set the fifth fastest time.
He will now have to wait until early April for another chance to prove his talent at the next round of the WRC in Jordan. Read more

Travis Pastrana Wins Rally America Sno*Drift – Ken Block’s Ford Breaks Down
February 1, 2010

Travis Pastrana’s enviable motorsports resume—which already features such mundane entries as double backflipping a motorcycle, jumping a car 270 feet across Long Beach Harbor, and capturing enough X Games gold to bailout Wall Street—expanded this weekend to include a new sport called vehicular ice dancing, and subsequently, his fourth Rally America Sno*Drift victory. Actually, ice drift might be a better term, as the Northern Lower Michigan roads used by the racers were the slickest in recent memory, thanks to a soaking rain followed quickly by a drastic drop in temperature—all less than a week before the race. As a result, the gravel roads were more like rivers of glare ice, and since studded tires aren’t legal in Michigan, and since rally cars must be street legal, well, you see where this is headed.
