In only his second year in the sport, McLaren Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton became today the 2008 FIA Formula 1 World Champion at the season finale in Brazil.In one of the most dramatic finishes to a World Championship ever, Hamilton took the title by a single point after securing fifth position on the final corner of the final lap of the final race of the 2008 season.
Hamilton finished the year with 98 points, one point ahead of Ferrari’s Felipe Massa who won his home race at Interlagos this afternoon.
Heikki Kovalainen finished seventh – a result that helped the McLaren Mercedes team to second in the constructors’ championship with 151 points. Ferrari amassed a title-winning total of 172 points
At the age of just 23 years, 10 months and 26 days, Lewis is the youngest champion in Formula 1 history. He takes McLaren’s 12th drivers’ world title, and the third for the McLaren Mercedes partnership, which won the drivers’ title in 1998 and 1999 with Mika Hakkinen. Read the rest of this entry »
A1 Team Malaysia is set to take on one of its biggest challenges since winning at Zandvoort earlier this month. The team will be putting down their spanners and picking up paintbrushes for a new project as part of the A1 Team Malaysia Outreach programme, the team’s social responsibility arm.

The opening race victory of the new A1GP World Cup of Motorsport season for A1 Team Malaysia brought with it much welcome attention, both nationally and internationally. For the team and its driver, Fairuz Fauzy, the beautiful trophy, 10 World Cup of Motorsport points, a place in the record books and the playing of the national anthem of Malaysia brought great pride to all members of the team in their pursuit of the championship for the nation. 
A1 Team Malaysia will be back to its former best this season according to Zandvoort Sprint race winner, Fairuz Fauzy.
A1 Team Malaysia joined a cavalcade of Lola racing cars to mark the company’s 50th anniversary on Sunday, with the team’s original A1GP car taking part in a parade on the streets of Huntingdon, the Cambridgeshire town which is home to the leading British race car manufacturers. 
MotoGP fans will have the opportunity to meet their racing idols face-to-face at the 2008 Polini Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Sepang Circuit this Saturday (October 18) in a special meet-the-riders and autograph session jointly organized by event organiser Sepang International Circuit (SIC) and Dorna, the worldwide rights holder for the MotoGP world series.
