Volvo initially came out with a totally new concept with their V70 Cross Country back in 1997 and now they’re back again, only it’s dropped much of its wagon-like looks for something more SUV oriented for a better sense of adventure with its copper and brown theme.

IIHS Takes on EuroNCAP with New 2012 Crast Test!
It’s usually the rule of thumb for most to rely on crash-safety test ratings conducted by the European New Car Assessment Programme (EuroNCAP), to which they will be rating a certain vehicle out of 5 stars. However, the American Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has unveiled a new sort of test for some vehicles that include the likes of a 2012 Acura TSX, BMW 3-Series (F30), a Lincoln MKZ and a Volkswagen Passat CC. All of which have been deemed as marginal and the Audi A4, Lexus ES (2012), Lexus IS (2012) and Mercedes-Benz C-Class were considered poor within the test group.

3 Million Miles in a 46-Year-Old Volvo? Not a Problem!

How much was the most mileage that you have ever seen or even recorded yourself in a car? 100,000km? Or maybe 500,000km? If you have yet to even come close to maxing out your six-digit odometer, then make way Irv Gordon from New York, USA and his four-wheeled sweetheart, a gleaming red Volvo P1800. Not so familiar with that particular model? That is not much of a surprise since this car could be traced back all the way from the 60’s.
Gordon loves to travel, and it was in this little Volvo that had took him to almost every reachable state in the United States, which does not include Alaska and Hawaii of course. His love towards travelling had earned him the first million miles (1.6 million km) on the odometer at just after 21 years of driving and was still going strong throughout the years, even when he could not fork out some more for the air conditioner which was an option back then!
Polestar Volvo C30: Autocar calls this AWD 400hp monster a “junior Nissan GTR”

Don’t get too excited, this is not a production car but just a prototype. Now that we have got that out of the way, lets get back to some wishful thinking. Well just about, if you disregard the iconic 850R and the fact that Volvo has and continues to participate in a number of racing series namely the Swedish Touring Car Championship.

Volvo To Race in WTCC
Mention Volvo and the first thing that comes up to anybody’s mind will be safety. It’s synonymous really and I’ll bet you that nine people out of ten would not know that Volvo actually goes racing. Rumour: Volvo To Produce 350hp C30R
Everytime I step into my girlfriends Volvo 240GL, it’s like a blast to the past, it almost feels ancient but nevertheless, it feels Scandinavian in every sense of the word, its a Volvo for god’s sake, it’s supposed to feel like that, big, chunky, tank like, it’s built to save you in any situation, provided you don’t drop it off a cliff or drive down Everest in it or blow it up, you’ll be fine. Maybe that is a bit far fetched but can the same be said about a Volvo with racing intentions? Read the rest of this entry »
