Porsche Driving Experience 2013

Yesterday, we were at Sepang for Porsche’s Driving Experience 2013. Porsche organizes this event every year allowing participants to understand their cars, as well as their limits, better. Porsches are renowned for having a slew of acronyms – PDK, PTM, PSM, PDCC, etc and Porsche Driving Experience (PDE) was developed to help us understand how these all worked in the real world. The day’s activities consisted of several challenges: skid pad, brake, moose and slalom, and included some driving time on-track as well. Each challenge was designed to showcase individual capabilities of Porsche’s tech and concept.

Not too long ago, Car paparazzis or… ‘Carparazzis’ spotted the facelifted BMW M5 F10 with very light camouflage to hide away it’s updates. Then recently, it seems that BMW may have ‘accidentally’ leaked the looks of the new facelift online. Where? – in their car configurator!~

MY13 Cayman arrives: choice of two flat-six engines, six-speed manual as standard.

Some will say that the Cayman is an interpretation of a hard-top Boxster, but I’ve never agreed with that ideology. The Cayman is more focused, faster and with that fixed roof, has always had a completely different agenda than the Boxster. But when it comes to power and performance, the Cayman sits squarely in between the Boxster and 911. Launched at Zebra Sq in KL yesterday evening, this new iteration of Cayman promises an even smaller gap between the three models. Also breaking cover together with the Cayman were the Cayenne S Diesel and Cayenne Turbo S models.

Meeting Up with the Honda Specialist; Chris Tan from Pentagon Racing

Pentagon Racing, based in Kuala Lumpur, is one of Malaysia’s most recognized tuning house for anything Honda. Namely the K20A powered Type-Rs. Setting highly respectable lap times and leaving their mark at top Malaysian circuit events has brought them into the spotlight.

Being one of the must-show faces at TIMETOATTACK, we met up with Chris at Honda-specialist’s headquarters, and had a little chat about their progress in the pursuit for that magical lap time. It is to our amazement though that the car that used to represent Pentagon (driven by Chris) during the 2012 round had already changed hands earlier this year.

Driven: 2013 Honda CR-V tested in Langkawi Island

The soft roader market became apparent when Honda first release their rendition in 1995. Dubbed the ‘Comfort Roundabout Vehicle’, over 5million has been produced and we are now down to the fourth generation CR-V, and even before it was launched in March, Honda Malaysia had already received over 1000 bookings.

Honda has managed to changed the idea of having a 4WD. Back in the days, people bought tall-riding four-wheel-drives for rough use, going into thick jungles and muddy water. But with the concept of the CR-V, owning a ‘go-anywhere’ family car, that is easily drivable and practical became an option. Almost 20 years after the launch of the first generation, the CR-V badge lives on.

The market may be flustered for choices these days, with the Nissan X-Trail, Hyundai Santa-Fe and Kia Sportage. This only means Honda had to step up their game where once they monopolised.

Lamborghini’s 50th Anniversary Asia Drive sees the largest Bull gathering in Southeast Asia!

The month of May 2013 sees Automobili Lamborghini turn 50 years old. To celebrate, the marque has organized a grand tour across Italy; flagging off from Milan through Lombardia, Toscana, Rome, and finally stopping at Sant’Agata Bolognese, Lamborghini’s birthplace. As you might imagine, organizing such a run would be a logistic nightmare; especially when you have to ship in cars from all over the world. As such, participation was limited to only 350 slots, and with thousands of owners who wanted to expressed interest to join the drive, many were left disappointed.

Aston Martin Running a Hydrogen-Powered Rapide S in the Nurburgring 24-Hours!

Aside from the cute little Cygnet, Aston Martin is well known for their luxurious Gran Tourers housing extra-large V12s, ferrying the occupants through long distances in great speeds. And also with a very active motorsport division that enters almost every single type of race available in Europe, it is hard to associate Aston Martin with saving the environment, until now.
