Proton Emas: An Italian, British and Malaysian Colaboration

March 4, 2010

Proton has definately hit the spot with its latest concept, Emas. Its modern, “urban-vehicle” type design is in line with that of modern world-class vehicles and is often associated with brands like Smart and the Toyota iQ, these cars have also effectively proven that such designs work.

But Proton didn’t do it alone (showing that collaborations do work sometimes), our national car maker went to work on the Emas with two partners, Italdesign Giugiaro who co-created the car, and Lotus, to who Proton outsourced the hybrid drivetrain to.

Rendered Again: Mclaren MP4-12C Longtail

February 19, 2010

A couple of weeks ago we brought to you some gorgeous renderings of a GTR variant of the new Mclaren MP4-12C roadcar. There may not be any plans to take car racing for now as no announcement has baeen made of a race variant of the model or any form of motorsports program but it didn’t stop artist Jon Sibal from imagining what it could be like if only… and now Mr.Sibal has came up with some additional renderings of the car in longtail form, just like the original. Rendering: The Return of The Porsche 928

February 19, 2010

Word on a new Porsche 928 has been going on for quite some time now. The original 928 GTS that ran through 1992-1995 won over a lot of hearts and you can still see some well maintained examples on the road today but that’s not to say that the car has been doomed to the pages of history, if enthusiasts were given their way, a new modern incarnation of the 928 should be just around the corner, and some say it is but till something more substantial comes along, we will have to make do with these renderings.

Posted on Autoblog, these renderings are actually the work of a Teamspeed forum member – Wildspeed. Seen pretty obviously in the rendering are almost identical lines to the early 928 molded with some modern Panamera like lines and some. If the 928 does make it to production, the next thing to wonder would be if it will be a proper drivers car or will it be another platform for Porsche to spawn hybrid models. Our guess is, they have said screw fun. Read more

Rolls Royce Coupe Based On Nissan 350Z Designed By Overambitious Indian Designer

February 17, 2010

A couple of years ago Indian designer Dilip Chabria set out to create a very unique car for a very unique customer, one of the Maharaja’s of India. And the result? This, a Rolls-Royce “wannabe” based on a Nissan 350Z. And it’s now for sale by a London-based company at a spectacular £750,000. Read more

Rendered: Mclaren MP4-12C GTR

February 4, 2010

Well known graphic designer Jon Sibal came up with these renderings of the Mclaren MP4-12C GTR. He used several different classic liveries like Fina, Gulf and Marlboro. It’s unlikely that the Mclaren MP4-12C GTR will ever be adorned in these liveries, in fact we don’t even know if the MP4-12C will be competing in races (though we have absolutely no doubt that Mclaren will contest the car), but these images here gives us a glimpse in hope that the new Macca will see the chequered flag one day.

Super GT Lexus LFA GT500 (1)

If you’re a SuperGT fan you would know that Team Petronas Tom’s drivers Jyuichi Wakisaka and Andre Lotterer took the overall GT500 win in their Lexus SC430 last year. They may have won that but I’m guessing retaining the title will be an even bigger feat for the team. Read more

Renderings: Next Generation Bugatti Veyron – The Renaissance

January 4, 2010

Bugatti-Renaissance-5 copy

The Bugatti Veyron may be the ultimate hypercar of our generation and will probably continue being so for a few more generations but it too, like the Mclaren F1, will meet its match and will succumb to the test of time. So what’s next? I would say that it’s safe to assume that another Bugatti will take it’s place but that’s just speculation. But if that does happen, then John Mark Vicente – a Canadian graduate of the Communication Design program at the Emily Carr University – has an idea of what the next ultimate Bugatti hypercar will look like.

Aston Martin Shows Off The Completed Cygnet

December 16, 2009

Aston Martin Cygnet

A few months ago we showed you photos of Aston Martin designers working on a small Aston Martin that was touted to be the first small Aston built for city commuting rather than continent cruising, think Smart ForTwo and you get the idea. In fact the car that the Aston engineers were working on was a clay-covered Toyota iQ, proving that city commuting is what it’s being built for. Read more
