Honda Malaysia positive about selling 100K cars here in 2017

Honda, the No.1 non national car brand in Malaysia has revealed plans to retain their title this year and is confident they’d achieve their 100,000 sales target. This is in light of their recent 1st quarter sales figure of 34,500 cars sold as of April 2017, which is a staggering 40% increase or precisely 9,800 cars more than last year (2016).

 

Here’s a breakdown of the recent Hondas sold in Malaysia:

The BR-V

Over 7,800 units sold since January 2017

Making up for 23% of all new Hondas sold in Malaysia, the BR-V is their first full 7-seater compact crossover that has received rave reviews since inception in January this year.

The New City

7,200 bookings since March 2017

Also making up 23% of total Hondas sold here, this c-segment star recent received substantial facelifting namely new LED headlights and refreshed physique.

The Civic

15,700 units sold since June 2016

This is Honda Malaysia’s proudest product, the 10 gen Civic. Selling like hot cakes in midst of the current market condition, the Civic Turbo variant exits showrooms at 840 units per month! The Civic Turbo also makes up for 60% of the total Civic sold.

What’s interesting to know is the market actually prefer the more premium Turbo model and what success it must have been for Honda, with this being their virgin try at a turbocharged c-segment car.

As for the entire Honda family, the Jazz, HR-V, City, Civic and Accord models are currently ranked top in their respective segments as of March 2017. 

Honda Malaysia also claims that the waiting period for all Honda models during this upcoming Raya festivities is currently rated at 1 – 2 months. This is partly possible with the existence of Honda’s two production lined manufacturing plant, enabling them to adjust production according to current demands. 

In other news, they have also announced, that beginning 1st May 2017, the HR-V and CR-V 2.0 2WD will reflect the new excise duty On-The-Road (OTR) Price with insurance due to re-classification under the new customs tariff code.

The new pricing of HR-V will be starting from RM101,000 – RM121,000 while the new pricing of CR-V 2.0 2WD will be RM141,500.

Honda’s Upcoming Sales Campaigns:

Apart from the new pricing announcement, Honda has planned two exciting campaigns in the month of May for customers.

The first campaign will be a month-long festive campaign, ‘Nikmati Musim Bonus’ which begins on 1st May 2017 and runs up to 31st May 2017. The second campaign is a Honda Nationwide Showroom Event which falls on Saturday, 13th May 2017 between 10am to 4pm in conjunction with Mother’s Day. All Honda dealers nationwide will be a hive of activity to appreciate mothers. Besides Test Drive Gifts and Lucky Draws, mothers and ladies can expect to receive roses and a Mother’s Day card made by their own children at the Honda showroom**.
