The Lotus Elise by nature is already a lightweight car that promises tonnes of fun when on the track. But the guys at Lotus had the idea that they could actually turn it into something more exciting and had recently introduced to the world a new Cup variant which at the same time is the fastest road-going Elise ever made.
Although known to be a featherweight, the engineers at Lotus managed to shave another 21 kilograms from the Elise. Adding up 26-horsepower, the Elise Cup 250 weighs only 931 kilograms and has a zerotohundred time of 3.9 seconds.
Power comes from a supercharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 243-horsepower at 7,200rpm and 250Nm of torque at 3,500 – 5,500rpm. The bodykit is also not just for show as it has been aerodynamically optimized to provide 66 kilograms of downforce at 160 km/h and 155 kilograms at 248 km/h.
Sticking close to Colin Chapman’s well-known recipe of simplifying things up as well as adding lightness, the Elise Cup 250 receives an array of lightweight components such as lithium-ion battery, carbon fiber seats, and ultra-lightweight forged alloy wheels to reduce 17.5 kilograms from the car’s weight.
And if you have the absurd idea that the car is still heavy, Lotus offers the Carbon Aero Pack to their customers which cuts down the car’s weight to just 912 kilograms! The Elise Cup 250 is offered ass a roadster as a standard with a hard top available as an option.
