Honda Malaysia had just set new benchmarks for executive sedans with the unveiling of the new Accord today. The 9th generation Accord now comes in strategic packages, in an effort to offer value while maintaining premium features in all its variants.

This flagship model of Honda also celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, with over 75,000 units registered on Malaysian roads since its official introduction in the country back in 2001.

The new Accord is offered in three variants - 2.0 VTi, 2.0 VTi-L and 2.4 VTi-L – in which the highest variant is powered by Honda’s revolutionary Earth Dreams Technology engine.

Exterior

The new Accord has been redesigned to deliver what looks to be a more masculine appearance. Its front Solid Wing Face fascia has been revised and there's a new front bumper. Headlights are automatic projector halogen on the 2.0-litre variants, while the range-topping 2.4-litre gets new full-LED headlights with auto-levelling.

The dynamism of the new Accord is further accentuated towards its rear where it receives a pair of new LED tail lights with rear fog lights as standard across all variants. Completing the look is a set of two-tone finished rims, 17-inch on the 2.0-litre variants and 18-inch on the 2.4-litre variant.

Honda Malaysia is offering 5 colours for the new Accord. Two existing colours, Modern Steel Metallic and Crystal Black Pearl, as well as three new colours, White Orchid Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic and Obsidian Blue Pearl, with the latter is specific to this Accord model only.

Interior

The cabin on the new Accord is blessed with an array of premium features to suit the modern-day executive. All variants are equipped with Smart Entry with Push Start Button, ECON Button, One-touch Lane Change, Cruise Control Intelligent Multi-information Display (i-MID) with Colour, Audio & iMiD Control Switch, dual-zone air-conditioning system, 3-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel, and Active Noise Control (ANC) and Active Sound Control (ASC).

The 2.0 VTi-L and 2.4 VTi-L are further equipped with Auto-Dim Rearview Mirror, 8-way Driver Power Seat with Lumbar Support and 4-way Passenger Power Seat. However, only the 2.4 VTi-L gets steering-mounted paddle-shiters.

Infotainment is served by a 7-inch Advanced Display Audio with MP3 and USB connectivity and 6 speakers. The 2.4 VTi-L variant is equipped with Premium Sound System with Subwoofer.

Engine

Powering the new Accord is Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology (2.4 VTi-L only), backed by a suite of advanced technologies that is designed to optimize both power and fuel economy. The 2.4-litre 16-valve DOHC i-VTEC produces 172hp at 6,200rpm and 225Nm of torque at 4,000rpm.

Meanwhile, the 2.0 VTi and 2.0 VTi-L are powered by the familiar 2.0-litre 4-cylinder SOHC i-VTEC, good for 153hp and 190Nm of torque. A 5-speed automatic transmission is the only transmission available, regardless of variants and engine types.

Safety

With safety being paramount to Honda, the new Accord now comes with 6 airbags, in addition to ABS, EBD, Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Multi-angle Rearview Camera and ISOFIX, across all variants.

The mid-range 2.0 VTi-L and top-range 2.4 VTi-L receive Honda LaneWatch Camera (LWC), and specific to the 2.4 VTi-L are Active Cornering Light (ACL) and Hidrophilic Door Mirror.

As for security, the new Honda Accord is guarded by Security Alarm with Immobiliser and Ultrasonic Sensor.

Prices start at RM144,800 all the way up to RM172,800, depending on variants. The new Accord also comes with a 5-year warranty with unlimited mileage at 10,000km service intervals.

Rear lights look like BMW 5 series. Front face follows the new Civic. The previous one seems to look better IMHO, but don't know if I see it in the flesh later. Anyway never gonna buy it.

Perdana is previous model mah! Will have proton fans support.....
Is too bad that Perdana is priced at that amount... It is not a bad car itself but for that price, there are many other better choices available.

Well, choice is personal. Even though you like A, there are others who will like B and C and D......lol

Yup exactly, sometimes after I have a look at the car in real life then I might like it better, but can be vice versa too. For example the new Civic, now I don't like it after seeing it in the flesh.

Sometimes, shape is one thing and practical or not is another. Being quite tall, any sloping roof to the rear design to make it look streamline, for us tall people will be a problem sitting in the rear.....:hmmmm:
