Using the 2015 New York International Motor Show as their platform, Porsche had recently revealed their new Boxster which now comes with an open top. We always loved the looks of the new Boxster which is now a lot manlier than before, and the Spyder version just tops it.
The usual thought of a Spyder version is that the car will be heavier due to its roof folding mechanism. That is not the case for this one as this Spyder comes with a manually operated fabric roof – but it is released electrically through the rear deck. Porsche also removed the radio and air conditioning in the interest of shaving off more weight, but one could opt for them anyways by ticking them in the optional list.
Powering the car is a 3.8-liter flat-six engine which has been tuned to produce a respectable 375-horsepower, 10 less than the track-focused Cayman GT4. Mated to a six-speed manual transmission, zerotohundred is said to be dealt with in 4.5 seconds and has a top speed of 290km/h.
The Boxster Spyder also comes with a firm sport suspension system that lowers the car by 20mm, an aero kit with larger air intakes, uprated brakes and more direct steering. Over in the States, the Boxster Spyder is priced at USD 83,095 (RM 304,136) and will only reach the showrooms later in October.
