Offering more options to those looking for a sporty and luxurious SUV in the markets today, Lexus Malaysia had officially taken the covers off their all-new NX SUV line up. The new NX is an all-new model that was first introduced back in mid-2014 with production kicking off later in the year.
The new NX is also an important model for Lexus International as it features many firsts not only for Lexus themselves, but also for the automotive market. Among those in the list are the 2.0-liter twin-scroll turbocharged engine, rear power reclining and folding seats, Panoramic view monitor and wireless charger.
“The all-new Lexus NX is a truly unique SUV, one that has never been seen before in the Malaysian market. it is a highly innovative luxury compact crossover which is very different from other highly successful Lexus SUV, the much beloved RX,” said Datuk Ismet Suki, President of UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd.
Targeting a younger segment of the market compared to the other Lexus models, the NX is available with two engine options; a 2.0-liter twin-scroll turbocharged petrol engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, and a larger 2.5-liter Hybrid engine mated to an E-CVT and E-Four wheel drive for the All-Wheel Drive variant.
The 2.0-liter variant comes with 235-horsepower at 4,800rpm to 6,500rpm with 350Nm of torque from 1,650-4,000rpm. The 2.5-liter Hybrid however has 197-horsepower and an increased torque figure with the help of an electric motor.
The Lexus NX is instantly recognizable with its iconic spindle grille and the triple-L-shaped LED headlamps. The headlamps feature six high brightness LEDs on each side to provide optimum lighting whilst the three lamps aligned in an L-shape for low beam clarity.
Lexus Malaysia will be offering five variants of the NX and they will be priced from RM 292,000 to RM 375,000 without insurance. Lexus has been taking orders for the new NX since October 2014 and had received more than 600 orders, with the most popular being the NX F Sport variant.
