Since it is the Tokyo Motor Show, almost all major Japanese automakers are coming out with exciting models to serve as a preview of things to come in the near future. Mazda has taken the internet by storm with their RX-Vision Concept, and now it is Subaru’s turn to shine as they unveil their new WRX STI S207.
The first thing that you need to know is that this is not just another model with a fancy dress that costs a fortune. Subaru will only make 400 of these and sadly enough all of them are destined for the Japanese domestic market. However, we are pretty sure that some of them will find their way into Malaysia through grey dealers, so let us have a look on the specs of the new S207.
Receiving new intake, exhaust, ECU, and twin-scroll turbocharger, the 2.0-liter turbo flat-four now has 330-horsepower and 431Nm of torque. The chassis has also undergone some serious upgrades where there are now bracing for the front strut towers and front and rear subframes, as well as pillow-ball bushing for the rear lateral suspension linkages.
The S207 rolls on lightweight 19-inch BBS wheels wrapped in255/35R19 92Y Dunlop Sport Maxx RT tires. Stopping power are provided by drilled rotors front and rear clamped by Brembo calipers (six-piston front and four-piston rear). The Bilstein adjustable dampers is combined with a quicker 11:1 steering rack and front-to-rear torque vectoring system to provide more grip and sharper responses.
