Sorry Maserati, your patent drawings for the Levante have surfaced online!

Since Porsche is already deep in the SUV game with the Cayenne and the Macan, we have been hearing numerous reports of other exotic marques which will follow the move like Lamborghini with their Urus concept. And now, the next player to join in the game is Maserati as the drawings of their possible upcoming SUV recently surfaced online.

Maserati-Levante-1

The vehicle is called the ‘Levante’ and according to the Maserati Levante forum, these drawings were filed by the Italian auto company in Australia on April 8 to register this SUV. Unfortunately for Maserati, someone who was involved in the whole process just could not contain their excitement and shared these images to the whole world to see.

If you could recall, Maserati did came up with a concept in about four years ago. Called the Kubang, it looks like the Levante (according to the drawings) took things in a more composed manner. The Levante appears to be quite lower than an actual SUV, making it look more like a crossover.

The front-end styling language has that Ghibli-inspired look, and it still retains the trademark Maserati side fender vents. Not to forget, it also has that hood’s curvature which gives the vehicle a more aggressive look.

Of course since this is a leak, no official information was available on the powertrain of the Levante. But if we were to give a guess, it might be powered by a twin turbocharged V6 pushing out 345 – 419bhp and a V8 with 552bhp. A 335bhp diesel option also should not be ruled out in the equation as well.
