Good news! Renault has announced that they will be making an RS version for the infamous Sandero! Sounds more like an April fools joke rather than the real thing? We assure you that we are not making things up here as what Renault has produced here is guaranteed to leave a long and lasting smile on James May’s face.
But before you get overly excited on this new model, it is worth mentioning that the Sandero RS 2.0 was designed exclusively for Latin America and will become the first RS model to be built outside Europe.
It gets a 2.0-liter engine pushing out 145-horsepower, mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Equipped with stability control with “sports tuning”, the Sandero also gets revised settings for the suspension and steering while stopping power is now provided by a set of disc brakes on each sides.
From the outside, the RS model is distinguished by a revised front end featuring a more aggressive front bumper that incorporates a mesh-style grille and lower air intake, and LED driving lights. It is also fitted with sharper side skirts, a rear diffuser, new taillights and chromed twin-tip tailpipes. The Sandero RS gets a set of 17-inch black alloy wheels wrapped in 205/45 Continental EcoSport Contact 3 tires.
