There is no doubt that machines like the Porsche 918 Spyder is a spectacular piece of automotive engineering, and every millimetre of it was constructed with speed and stability in mind. However, even an engineering marvel like this is not exempted from human error as Porsche had recently issued a recall on their latest hybrid supercar.

The main issue for this recall? Apparently Porsche had just discovered a wiring problem that might lead to some technical difficulties, and this global “precautionary” recall affects cars made up until the end of April this year. In the United States alone, 223 units of the 918 are included in this recall. According to Porsche, the issue has been narrowed down to an electrical wiring harness for a radiator fan that could end up being damaged by a carbon fiber component.

“The cause was identified following a detailed examination of inquiries. Corrective measures have subsequently been taken in manufacturing. The service visit, which will be free of charge, will be arranged as quickly as possible and the inspection will likely require the vehicle to be left in the shop for half a day,” said Porsche in a statement.

It might not sound that serious, but a spoilt radiator fan might lead to some pretty hot situations. Maybe the owner of the sole 918 Spyder in Malaysia should take note of this…
