Although not admitted by both parties, Ferrari and McLaren are pretty active in playing the catch up game. After the British manufacturer had come out with the 650S, the 458 is at its last breath to keep up, but they responded anyways with the recently-revealed turbocharged 488 GTB. Since Ferrari has joined in the turbocharged game, McLaren is already working hard on a new model to counter it; the 675LT.
This new supercar is the latest addition to McLaren’s Super Series family which includes cars like the 625C and the 650S. To not keep the fans in the dark, McLaren had released a short clip showing the car’s rear end and a quick roar of the sporty exhaust note. The rounded tailpipes are just another piece in the puzzle that we are collecting in having an idea how the car will look like as a finish product.
The 675LT will be powered by none other than their trusty 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine fitted to all modern McLaren road cars. The peak output has been confirmed at 675-horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. In ensuring ideal traction for standing starts, the torque will be limited to 443 lb-ft in first gear, with the other gears getting all 516. Compared to the new Ferrari, the 488 GTB only has 660-horsepower but with a higher torque figure of 560 lb-ft.
