After introducing the P1 hybrid hypercar, McLaren continued to wow the auto world by unveiling the more powerful P1 GTR with 986-horsepower. This track-focused machine is what you will get when you take away the barriers and let the engineers go wild with their current crown jewel, and will probably give the Ferrari FXX K a hard time if they ever stumbled upon each other on the same race track.
And it seems that for those who had placed an order for this hardcore McLaren, they might be getting their Christmas present earlier than expected as McLaren had commenced production of this track-only machine ahead of schedule. The initial plan was to start production once the whole 375-unit batch of the road-going units is done, but McLaren has started in assembling the P1 GTR.
The production of the road-going P1 is expected to end next month with the very last unit finished in a bare carbon fiber body. McLaren has not stated when they will conclude operations for the P1 GTR, but they have received 42 orders for the GTR and might only be limiting production to 45 units.
The P1 GTR features a fixed rear wing and a new twin exhaust system made out of Inconel and titanium alloy. The car also rolls with a pretty hefty price tag of 1.98 million Pounds or RM 10.43 million.
