Lexus is determined to make an appearance at the global motorsports arena as they recently formed the new F Performance team which will take place at the United States. And their machine to spearhead the attack? Thanks to the new racing collaboration with Paul Gentilozzi, the F Performance team will be fielding the new RC F GT3 in a soon to be announced sports car series.

Like the name implies, this new race car is based on the production RC F model and is built to comply with FIA’s GT3 regulations. It will also serve as a test bed for Lexus’ future “F-branded” models, as explained by the Lexus division vice president and general manager, Jeff Bracken:

“A core mission of F Performance Racing was to strengthen the Lexus’ F brand by applying lessons gleaned from racing, while nurturing an engineering culture that transfers that knowledge to dynamic, high performance passenger car development. We are very excited about what this partnership and race effort can mean for the brand in the years to come.”

The RC F GT3 was built by Toyota Technocraft Japan and the car tips the scale at only 1,300kg. The 5.0-liter V8 engine produces a healthy 500-horsepower and is mated to a six-speed sequential gearbox with paddle shifters. Taming this new beast is the responsibility of veteran driver and road racing legend Scott Pruett, where his knowledge will bring a “wealth of experience” during the development phase.
