Ushering the New Year in style, Honda Malaysia had recently introduced the new CR-V or Comfortable Runabout Vehicle into the local market. Being one of the most sought after SUVs with over 52,000 units sold since its debut in Malaysia back in 2001, the CR-V now comes in three variants which include a 2.0L 2WD version.
“The SUV segment has shown significant growth over the years and SUV buyers have expanded from the traditional family to single outgoing adults. Based on market feedback, we found that there is a bulging demand for 2-Wheel-Drive SUVs. Reflecting this demand in our line-up, we are implementing the 2.0L 2WD variant for the new CR-V,” said Honda Malaysia Managing Director and Chief Executive Oficer, Mr. Yoichiro Ueno.
The new 2.0L 2WD shares the same powertrain as its 4WD sibling, which is mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission. However, the drivetrain in the 2WD offers better fuel efficiency. Other variants also feature an ECON Mode Switch Button which comes as standard to further increase the fuel efficiency.
The 2WD is also jam-packed with numerous features such as Smart Entry with Push-Start Button, LED Daytime Running Lights, and an 8-way driver power seat. The rear seats could be folded down to increase the existing 589 litres of cargo space to 1,146 litres through the One-Motion Rear Foldable Seats.
Safety is also an area that was not overlooked as it comes with an advanced safety technology known as the Honda LaneWatch (for the 2.4L 4WD variant). The LaneWatch allows the driver to have a better view of the passenger’s side traffic compared to using the side mirrors alone. Other safety features include the Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Emergency Stop Signal, Hill Start Assist, and airbags (6 for the 2.4L, 4 for the 2.0L 2WD and 4WD).
The new CR-V is offered in five colours – Modern Metallic Steel, Taffeta White, Twilight Blue Metallic, Alabaster Silver Metallic and Crystal Black Pearl. Four attractive accessory packages are also offered by Honda to enhance both the exterior and interior of the CR-V, starting at a price tag of RM 2,650. Honda Malaysia offers a 5-year warranty with unlimited mileage and service interval of 10,000km.
As for the pricing, the new Honda CR-V is priced at RM 139,800 for the 2.0L 2WD, RM 150,800 for the 2.0L 4WD and RM 169,800 for the top-of-the-range 2.4L 4WD.
