Finally? Finally. Although the looks of the new Acura NSX is not really in a level of top secrecy, they have not really released any pictures of the car in its production form; until now. After years of anticipation, Acura had finally taken the covers of their new NSX at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show, and we sure are glad that it does not look far off from its concept form.

After leaving a gap of 25 years from the last NSX, the icon is back to wow the automotive world once again, packing the latest technology and more power to give it an edge against its rivals. While it is still sticking with its mid-engine layout like the original NSX, the whole car is entirely new and different.

Acura still goes for the V6 engine, but it is now mounted 75-degree longitudinally in the chassis instead of a 90-degree mounting. Aside from the assistance of two turbochargers to boost up the V6, the new NSX also gets three electric motors in aiding the acceleration. Two of them are situated up front, providing more forward traction, as well as vector torque and to improve handling. The rear motor on the other hand lends a hand in improving acceleration, braking and transmission shift quality.

A nine-speed dual-clutch transmission developed by Acura themselves will be fitted in the car, giving it lightning-quick gear changes. Despite Acura’s promise in making the NSX a “human centered supercar” and “an uncompromising focus on the driver”, there has been no word on the potential of a manual transmission for the NSX. Acura also has not released any sort of performance figures for the car just yet.
