Aston Martin revamps the DB9 with the new GT trim!

The famed Aston Martin DB9 will soon be giving way to a new successor but before such takes place, the British marquee is giving it another round of update that might just be its last hurrah. Focusing not only on the looks but on the power department as well, this new version is called the GT.

Under the long hood, one will still find the iconic 6.0-liter V12 engine built exclusively for Aston Martin by the Ford Motor Company. But instead of rolling with 500-horsepower, it now has 40 more horses to gallop with. The torque figure however remained same for both at 457 lb-ft. The all-alloy engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and does a zerotohundred in 4.5 seconds.

Aside from the performance gain, the DB9 GT gets a number of updates inside the cabin as well. Aston Martin is now offering a wider selection of colours and interior trim options to choose from. One could also get an updated steering wheel design which is inspired by the one found in the One-77 supercar. One of the most notable updates will be the new touch-sensitive infotainment system which made an appearance on the second-generation Vanquish.

The DB9 GT exterior features ‘GT’ badges and black accents found on the front splitter, rear diffuser, head and tail light surrounds, and brake calipers. It gets a special multi-spoke 20-inch wheels and the aluminium fuel filler cap is given ‘GT’ engraving.

“Our process of constant improvement, development and refinement of our core sports car never stops. The arrival of the remarkable DB9 GT, along with these important ’16 model year updates and enhancements for the Vantage and Rapide S, all clearly demonstrate that,” said Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer.
