They are made for speed. In a world where every millisecond matters, the Time Attack Machines category at TIMETOATTACK is where all eyes are glued upon to see whether we will be seeing a new record set for the year, or possibly, in the history of TIMETOATTACK itself. Without wasting any time, let us have a look on how did the Time Attack Machines performed in the Final Round of the 2015 TIMETOATTACK.
The Time Attack Machines is divided into two sub classes; the <2200cc and the >2200cc. Starting off with the <2200cc, it is like the NA-FF class all over again where Hondas dominate the scene. Piloting an Integra Type R DC5, Chan Chun Man took home fifth place in the class with his timing of 2:35.115.
Matthew Ng also in an Integra DC5 managed to clock a faster time of 2:32.638 which comfortably puts him in fourth position.
A car that is no stranger to the local Malaysia Championship Series, this Civic Type R FD2 race car piloted by Chris Tan/Alan Wong finish in third place with a timing of 2:31.622.
The serious aero package fitted on this Civic EG had certainly helped Uzi Ng to rise above the rest and clock a 2:29.576 for him to secure second place in the class.
But taking home the win for the <2200cc Time Attack Machine is Pee Sau Peng’s to take as he steered the Integra Type R DC5 to clock an astonishing 2:29.250.
In the faster >2200 category, we were quite disappointed to see Koh Aik Leong and Fiji Motorsport’s RX8 Time Attack Machine being unable to set a competitive timing for the day. Maybe next round!
This tangy Evo was piloted by Iskandar Dzulkhairi/Eddie Ng and they managed to clock a best timing of 2:26.792 which earned them the fifth place finish.
Coming in fourth place and the only Impreza in the category is Fuchs Lubricants/Edge Racing’s WRX STI Version 9. Driven by Ken Hooi, he clocked a best timing of 2:23.784.
Also a competitor in the Super Street Turbo AWD, Filbert Tan makes an appearance once again in this menacing carbon Evo. With a change of settings and rubber for the Time Attack Machines run, the 2:22.492 was enough to put him in the third place finish.
Since the machine that Desmond Soh used to drive encountered some problems, he had to share Teh Kian Boon’s Evo to make the attack. While Teh Kian Boon managed to clock a speedy 2:16.955, that only earned him a second place finish as Desmond Soh proved once again he was untouchable with an incredible timing of 2:15.611!
