The Toyota GT86 sure has a lot of potential in motorsports, and it is a great platform for almost any task imaginable. Proving that this FR machine is also suitable in tackling the muddy terrains of rally stages, Toyota Motorsport GmbH has just revealed their new TMG GT86 CS-R3 rally car, which comes from a long-line of racing cars released by the brand.
While the car may have not been designed to compete in the prestigious World Rally Championship, the TMG GT86 CS-R3 is poised to compete in the lower R3 class. In order to turn the GT86 into a formidable rally machine, a number of modifications were thrown in to suit the harsh conditions in rally stages.
The car’s transmission is now a six-speed sequential, limited slip differential and upgraded engine. It is also fitted with better brakes ad will join the Toyota Yaris R1A as a rally ca available to the everyday customer.
“The GT86 CS-R3 promises to be a thrilling car on the rally stages; with rear-wheel drive we can expect some dramatic action which is sure to be entertaining for drivers and fans alike. Through our experience with the TMG GT86 Cup and the TMG GT86 CS-V3 race car we have built a solid infrastructure for customer motorsport over the past few years”, said Nico Ehlert, the Principal Engineer Customer Motorsport.
