When Toyota unveiled the FT-1 Concept to the public, it was accepted with open arms and immediately fuelled back the hopes of having a Supra successor back on the streets. But clearly Toyota still has a lot of plans for this stunning concept car, with the latest one being the new FT-1 Vision Gran Turismo.
Although for the time being it is just a teaser, it looks like the FT-1 has received a major upgrade with most of them going to the aero department. The new FT-1 Vision GT is based on the original FT-1, but is designed for track use rather than the roads. Toyota is still keeping a tight lip on what is under the hood, but it is believed that it houses a hybrid powertrain.
Toyota said that the FT-1 Vision GT will soon be available for download for GT6. As for the word on the ‘next’ Supra, this legendary Toyota icon is expected to appear somewhere in 2017, with the car sharing the platform of BMW’s next-generation Z4 sports car. Like most of the cars today, it is expected to come with a hybrid powertrain that pairs a four-cylinder engine with a number of electric motors.
