Toyota issues global recall with 1.75 million cars affected, only 250 from Malaysia

A total of 1.75 million vehicles produced by Toyota are involved in their latest global recall for three separate defects which includes a faulty brake master cylinder that could possibly affect the braking performance.

Lexus-GS-6A number of about 1.05 million cars will be recalled in Japan alone, while the remaining models are the ones sold overseas. Affected models in this recall include cars like the Crown Majesta, Crown, Noah, Voxy, Corolla Rumion and Auris. A couple of Lexus models like the IS, GS, and the LS sedans are also affected by this recall.

As for Malaysia, it is estimated that the number of cars involved in this recall might be in the range of 250 vehicles, involving the Lexus IS and LS. “We have received confirmation from Toyota Motor Corporation in Japan that there is a combined number of less than 250 Lexus IS and Lexus LS cars in Malaysia sold by UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd that are involved in this special service campaign,” said a spokesperson to The Star Online.

“Lexus Malaysia will contact our customers personally and they will need to go to the nearest Lexus service centre to carry out the necessary corrective measures once these parts become available,” he added.
