While you usually hear the words like “fastest car” or “most powerful sedan” dominating the headlines, rarely enough we heard about news on an SUV going to speeds deemed unfamiliar in their territory. But if you have stuck a massive Jaguar engine into an SUV like the Range Rover, what you will get is possibly the fastest SUV in the world.

This new gargantuan monster is called the Range Rover Sport SVT and it is claimed to be the fastest SUV in the world. Of course, claiming it to be as such is not an overstatement, especially when you have a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine lifted from the Jaguar XKR-S residing underneath the hood. And the result of such a contraption? Zerotohundred takes only 4.5 seconds and has a limited top speed of 260km/h.

Land Rover has also given a thorough look into the four-wheel drive chassis to make sure it could keep up with the power. They had recalibrated the ZF eight-speed automatic transmission and fitted the new 22-inch alloys with 295/40 R22 Continental SportContact 5 tyres; available as an upgrade over the 21-inch all-season tyre.

Unsurprisingly, the SVT is also the fastest Land Rover ever, crafted by the new and skilful hands of the Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) team in Jaguar Land Rover. The SVO functions fairly similar to the AMG performance division of Mercedes-Benz and will create high-performance creations for the British group.
