The Geneva Motor Show has been the platform for top names in the car industry to unveil their crown jewels. Put the supercars and exotic names aside, it has also put tantalizing hot hatches into sight like the Honda Civic Type R concept and the new Nurburgring FWD production car record holder, the Seat Leon Cupra. Although not much attention is put to Opel, they do have their own hot hatch to offer in the form of Astra Extreme.

Basically a road-going version of the Astra OPC Cup Racer, this race car for the roads will be packing 300-horsepower from the turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four, which Opel said that they will soon be putting them into production.

The car also features mechanically adjustable suspension, with six-piston Brembo calipers on 376mm discs providing the stopping power up front. Rear seats could no longer be found to make way for the roll cage, and strapping the driver tightly in the seat are six-point harnesses.

For the time being, they are planning for a limited production of the model, depending on the demand. A total of 50 to 300 units will make it to the production lines, and will be most likely be launched at next year’s Geneva Motor Show.
