Earlier this year, in January to be precise, Lotus introduced the Elise S Cup R to the world. The Elise S Cup R is a track focused for Elise that will enter the Elise Cup. Perhaps Lotus saw a potential for a road going variant of the Elise S Cup R as shown in these spyshots.
So what differentiates the track going Elise S Cup R against the upcoming road going one? For starters, the road going model will feature headlights, number plates, better cooling and rollcage removal.
Stuff like the aerodynamics package will likely make a presence on the road going car, so potential owners can expect to see the same front splitter, winglets, rear diffuser and the similar rear spoiler. The road going variant will also benefit from the track car’s adjustable suspension set up. Other goodies like FIA compliant fire extinguisher, motorsport mapped ECU and quick release steering wheel may not be available on the road going variant.
Power for the Elise S Cup R comes from a Toyota 2ZE-FE engine paired to a Magnuson R900 supercharger. This combination gives the Elise S Cup R a total of 217 hp and 245 NM of torque. For a car that weights 1046 kg (Elise S Cup R Track car), that’s bloody quick indeed. Zerotohundred is estimated to be in the 4 seconds range. The road going Elise S Cup R is likely to retain the same engine set up.
Lotus has remained mum on the Lotus Elise S Cup R road car, but as far as the photos go, it like likely we will see a launch for the Elise S Cup R later this year.
